Looking for advice on electrolysis training

Hello to all, I would very much appreciate your help and advice.

I am looking for training advice as I would like to train to become an Electrologist, preferably to the VTCV AB30141 standard, as I understand this is a good level.

I need to find a reputable training course in the UK, and I live in South Derbyshire, but will travel if feasible.

At the moment I only want to focus on hair removal from the face and possibly the genitalia, anything else would be considered later, but if it were part of a training course that’s not a problem.

Currently I am studying for a VTCT level 3 in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology and I have an HND in computer Science(not much use in this case I know).

I did apply for the Sterex training course in Birmingham but that was full and so far I do not think they will run the course again until October.

I want to attain a high standard and wish to become a member of the British Institute & Association of Electrolysis.
I have not done any previous beauty training courses and such aspect hold little interest for me.

I have looked on line and contacted a number of companies and organisations, but so far the only course that has been recommended to me is by Sterex. The National Careers Advice Service did try, but to be honest were of little to no help.

The Sterex would have been great, as they only require two parts of the VTCT Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology (APP) course, that of the Hair, Skin & Nails and Endocrine System (thought I will complete the entire course and earn the qualification).

I have tried to find alternative courses by other manufacturers, such as Apilus, which seems to be considered as good or better than Sterex depending on who is asked, but have found nothing.

Other places I have contacted such as the London School of Beauty and Make-up will only accept people with the full APP certificate or previously studied with them.

I have found some training courses, but they seem short in length of time and not knowing enough, and in no way criticising them, I wonder if they are of a high enough standard, or should be taken as a supplement while actually working in this roll.

I have undergone electrolysis and still need more, so I really can appreciate the need for sound training. But this is the extent of my knowledge.

I really can’t wait until October for the Sterex course to be run again and if needed I would be happy to volunteer in an appropriate workplace while I gain the skill set and receive support I need to achieve my aims.

Any advice or help from members would be deeply appreciated,
With Many thanks, Deedee.

Gosh I find the accreditation process and licensing process in the UK truly fascinating !

Hi Deedee,

Before I entered an esthetics training program years ago, I found a website that indicated the percentage of students who passed the licensing exam. That criteria was my main concern. Is there a way for you to find out which program has the highest percentage of students who pass or get the highest grades?

Getting a qualification is one thing and I believe the BIAE run courses, however I would really encourage you to find a mentor, find an electrologist you can work with even if it’s voluntary for 3-6 months. Many people can study and sit exams but their practical work is not up to par and clients won’t stay.
Electrolysis is a practical skill that requires knowledge and once you’ve the correct technique, practise practise practise.
Contact the BIAE I’m sure they’ll be willing to help

Actually having just done this I can firmly Echo Mairi’s advice. Apprenticing under an established electrologist who has their routines and business practises down to a fine art and can help you perfect the fine art of a consult is probably the best thing you can do for your career. Working with a busy electrologist can bring you business s well and add to your professional development.

Hello … have you done the vtct anatomy level 3 exam … would you please give me feedback about exam …is it hard …
