Long, light hair all over my body

Hello!

First of all, thanks for such a site… Any help or tips will be highly appreciated…

My problem has started recently… 3 months ago I started noticing exessive hair growth everywhere, indcluding face…They are not dark and coarse, but there are millions of them and they are very fuzzy and about 1 cm long… I look “spiky”, the worst is on back and shoulders…

Please, give me some advice… I visited my gyn, but she didn’t take me seriously… I am also visiting endo soon…

How can I get rid of them? If this is some hormonal imbalance, can it be cured and will I go back to normal?

I am 19, and feel pretty bad, at the bottom :(. I have always been an attractive girl, but now my self confidence is totally down and I am worried about my relationship also :(. My parents are very worried but I can’t help my panic and crying when the Sun shines and it is sooooooooo obvious :(… Never felt this bad :frowning:

You should see an endocrinologist if you want to make sure there aren’t any hormonal conditions causing it.

Also, do you have any medical conditions? This type of growth is sometimes a result of a bad diet or anorexia/bulimia and a few other conditions. I would make sure you have a good diet.

Electrolysis is the only permanent method for removing this type of hair. See the electrolysis forum.

I did lose weight, about 6 kg, but not as a result of a diet, but because of the stress because of University and some personal issues… I have a feeling that it is worse every day…

There is an abnormal amount, so I really don’t know if I will be able to remove it by electrolysis…

Thanks for replying LAgirl

It may be stress-related. You may want to see a doctor for that. If it is, the hair may fall off on its own once you get your diet back in order (i.e. getting all the right nutrients and vitamins).

Is this condition usual?
Now that I think back, it did started somwhere in the time I’ve lost weight…
What doctor should I see about this? Is that diet difficult to follow?
Thank you very much, you’ve given me some hope.

Unfortunately, if a woman is totally stressed out for about two weeks, she can have unwanted hair growth as an unfortunate side effect. There is one more thing you can hate those ex-boyfriends over. There is a good book you should read “The Diet Cure” by Julia Ross. It will explain how you can get your hormones back on track through food and supplements. You may even find the sequel book “The Mood Cure” helpful as well.

It should be noted that the book is not a “Diet” book in the sense of the “Loose 50 pounds in 24 hours” genre. It is about what a healthy body needs, and how to increase the needed levels of beneficial nutrients in your body by eating food, and/or taking supplements that are easily found in your local health food shop or grocery store.

In the mean time, if you are stressed out, you should get some vitamin B complex, zinc, ferrous gluconate iron, vitamin A, C, E, and Lysine. Those will at least help your body cope. The book will help you figure out what things you need for optimum balance. There is even a questionnaire/test that helps you identify your personal deficiencies.

As for electrolysis, not being able to help you, check out my web page. If these people can get clear, you sure can.

Thank you very much, this was helpful, and I will read the book for sure.

As for the hair, how can I get rid of it? I have dark hair and eyes, so I am a bit hairy naturally and it doesn’t worry me… I

would just like to make these “new” hair less noticable. They are fair, so no need to bleach them. Wax or shaving are not an option, I suppose?

You can always shave them or trim them. Shaving is the best form of temporary hair removal because it doesn’t affect the root of the hair (so it won’t make the hair worse and it won’t interfere with electrolysis treatments if you ever try them in the future). You don’t want to wax your face. That could make things much worse.

Facial hair is not that bad, so I won’t do anything with it.
I only want to do something with back hair…
And I am considering shaving because they are light and fair. Maybe I’ll just cut them with scissors.
Thanks for advice
