Lightshear Treatments

I just got a Lightshear Treatment ranging from 40 to 50 jules using a 8mm. I have thick black hair and am quite pallid.

I’ve had previous treatments with a GentleLase which seemed to have a similar impact with much lower jule settings though I don’t recall the specs. This is probably the wavelength at work.

The advantages of the new place (I moved) is they take more time, are more generous in the areas covered (I payed for chest and back and they did my neck and shoulders as well).

What do you folks think of the laser settings though?

The diode interesting as it blasts the hair itself in many areas which the alex didn’t; through me off at first.

Hey, thanks y’all.

Oh the device is the Lightsheer ET.

8mm is ridiculously small. Ask for the 15?mm next time.

Yeah, thats why I had the question mark - I assumed it would go higher. It means it ends up taking longer and the chance of missing spots goes higher. But if they ARE thorough (which you can’t know for sure until about three weeks after the session) then that’s good.

GentleLASE is an alex. LightSheer is a diode. You can’t compare settings with just numbers - apples to oranges.

LightSheer only has a 9mm or 12mm spot sizes, so it can’t be 8mm. It’s also not adjustable.

As mentioned, it took longer because the spot size is half the size of the GentleLASE’s if 18mm was used back then.

Make sure only patches with actual coarse growth area treated. Otherwise, you may experience induced growth common on these areas. So those free areas could cost you in the long run.

Did they use compression? That’s important with this machine.

Do let us know how shedding goes in 3 weeks.

Thank you all.

I guess it’s 9mm; the nurse wasn’t quite sure and the website suggested some decimal between 8 and 9. From the dramatic response of my skin (of which I’ll spare detail) the treatment seems strong. Because of the smaller size, there were some small spaces missed. I actually get wicked thick hair on my neck and shoulders, as well as everywhere else so the more treatment the better; but I’ll definitely keep that in mind for areas successfully treated over time.

So far I feel like the communicativeness of this hospital and willingness to adjust settings based on area gives it a preference over where I used to go, though they had a better spot size and more effective overlapping. There’s another hospital in town that has the GentleLase, so I have to decide whether to give that a try next time or stay at the hospital I started at.

If treatments weren’t so expensive it would be easier to be flexible about it. Anyway, I’m at risk of repeating myself; I’ll send word in a few weeks about the results.

Best of wishes.
