I’m a 33 y/o F with a history of PCOS. I have dark, coarse hair under my chin. It doesn’t come onto my face or neck area. I tried electrolysis when I was younger with minimal success. I’m really self conscious about it and would love to have it gone. I have to trim it with scissors every other day. I am contemplating getting laser to remove it. There is a place near me that offers light sheer duet or soprano. Which is better? I’m skin type III. I’m also terrified of stimulating the peach fuzz hair around it and that turning dark!!! Should I go for it??? If so which type of laser???
LightSheer duet- 9mm*9mm spot size.
Before you proceed, do post a picture of the hair here!
They have the 22x35mm spot size for light sheer duet, so would that still be better than soprano?
LightSheer DUET has two spot sizes- 9mm9mm and 12mm35mm.
I’m not sure if they would be able to use the 12mm*35mm very efficiently on a small area - remember you do not want to stimulate the peach fuzz around.
I can’t say what would be a better option - Soprano doesn’t seem to work - almost everyone has posted negative reviews here. LightSheer duet’s bigger spot size is new and at least in the clinical studies presented by Lumenis, it seems to work well! I haven’t read any ( pos or neg) reviews yet.
Thanks. I will have to call and see if they have the 9mm size, it didn’t seem like it when I went for the consult. If not, I guess I have to keep looking around. I definitely don’t want to stimulate the peach fuzz
Research electrolysis and electrologists properly and give it another shot.
The area and the hair you want treated is perfect to achieve great results in a short time with the right electrologist.
A friend of mine has the name of an electrologist that she has heard rave reviews about. I did it over 15 years ago. Have things changed? Are there different types of electrolysis, if so which is best???
Can I butt in here? I am skin type IV, North Indian ethnicity (born in the USA though), probably same skin color as Aishwarya Rai. Would the LightSheer Duet work for me? I actually had one treatment with the LightSheer Duet, and the doctor was pretty professional. If you see my other thread that I started, I then decided to go to a doc with the GentleYAG since I heard everyone saying the YAG is the best one for Indian skin, and the doc herself is Indian-born. But she neglected to fit me with goggles. I feel like I should go back to the first doc with the LightSheer. Thoughts? Thanks.
I dont want to stimulate the peach fuzz either.
LightSheer is a diode and if indeed you are type 4 or as you said like Aishwarya Rai then it should be fine for you.
However, if you have a peach fuzz and it’s on your chin, not sure that’s the best idea to try either YAG or diode on that area.
Even if it doesn’t stimulate hair (it’s more risky but probably wont) then just because the hair is so fine there, it will take alot more sessions to see results (if at all) so as said before, it will probably be more cost effective to do electrolysis.
