Light brown hair and laser

Hi! So just a bit of history. I had light sheer on my lower legs a few years ago. Great results but will need minor touch up soon. I had my underarms done too, different practitioner and I can’t remember the laser. Six sessions but the results didn’t last very long. I also had my chin done, again light sheer, results didn’t last (I hear this is common). And I got my areolas done with great results. I don’t know why my armpits didn’t take. I am pretty sure it was lightsheer and hurt a lot.

I’m starting on a Brazilian now, with the same lady who did my lower legs. Had my first session today and thank god for Emla!

My question is about my butt. I have a hairy bum but the hair isn’t super dark coarse hair. It’s medium brown, fairly long and not very coarse but I can feel stubble if I trim it down. I have been trimming and bleaching it mostly but my lady thinks I can do laser. An exciting prospect!

She did a small area to see how it goes. I could feel the laser pain but it was much less than usual.

So I am wondering if with my inconsistent track record and somewhat finer, lighter bum fur, I am likely to have good results.

I couldn’t get a picture to upload but I found this one online which is a pretty good representation. To me, doesn’t look like ideal candidate for laser but I’m not an expert! I just don’t want to spend $500 on “might work maybe”, you know?

The main problem I have with it is the hairs are so long, and they seem to grow straight out of the follicle so they feel coarser than they probably are. At least they are easy to bleach.

If the hair on your butt is like the hair in the photo I would NOT get laser hair removal. I think you run the risk of inducing more hair growth. Electrolysis would be a better choice IMO.

I agree. Laser won’t “see” these hairs. You need electrolysis.

Ditto Dee. I would also add that buttocks, if you are to try the whole area, are a high risk of stimulated growth, so not worth the risk with laser.

On the old Butt …

I’m finishing up a “Butt case” right now … "BUTT’ I always do this carefully and in small “checker-board” patches … never the whole thing and never “both sides” at the same time (not good if the two sides … cheeks … rub together down in the “grotto”).

This client went to my excellent/trusted doctor friend, Dr. Perkins (a laser and medical-spa), and was massively treated and in serious trouble afterward … it took months to resolve! The hair grew back too.

Indeed, this patient, who resides both here and in another State, tries to PUSH ME to finish-up and pressures me at every treatment wanting more time. I just smile and say, "Sorry, I know what I’m doing … you’re done, you’ve had enough … and I’m ‘saving you from yourself’!’

If the patient "gets in trouble’ … guess who gets blamed? And, rightly so too! On certain areas you can’t "push it.’ Here’s what I tell my clients …

I hope this will help you:

"Look (dear client), a 1-hour treatment will yield ‘1-X’ amount of inflammation. A 2-hour treatment usually yields ‘2-X’ inflammation. However, a 3-hour treatment (in this sensitive area) will yield not ‘3-X’ … but ‘6-X’ inflammation, and you will be in trouble!’

At a certain point, the skin reaction starts to go up in multiples! (Is that the right term, Brenton?)

Any news from the experts on this question?
Thanks.
