legs

Just wondering if anyone could post some long term success stories with laser on their legs. Thanks!

There’s a bunch of them. Look for posts by RJC2001 and Vulpes, and use the search feature.

I did my inner thigh a year and a half ago and it is as clean as a baby’s bottom- the coolglide was used.

Last August, I started with the alexandrite on the rest of my legs- the hair that grows in now is so, so, so fine it is hardly notioceable- I really do not have to shave. I have had a problem with the little “tombsrtones,” little black dots that won’t cme out, but this is nothing- nothing - compared to the problem I had before. I never think about my legs anymore (although I do get lasered every 8 weeks to maintain- if I have to do this forever, it would be just fine).

Oh- before, I had terribly dark thick hair all over.

how many treatments have you had so far?

I am guessing you are a bike rider by your name if you look at my experiences I can tell you its been a pretty good experience I know RJC2001 also has done it I believe

If you’re really set on having hairless legs I would do it. Just make sure it’s not a passing phase. I’ve had been removing hair from my legs for years, so I came to a pretty solid decision to at least get some permanent laser done.

Except for a bit of a lapse between my second and third treatment where I wasn’t sure about stopping at partial thinning or full blown smoothness, I’ve absolutely felt it was money well spent and will get more done. Remember it’s going to take awhile for you to reach the ‘mostly hairless’ stage, it doesn’t happen overnight, so that allows plenty of time for thoughts on it. It’s a series of hair cycles and intervals you have to go through. I still want to get a few more treatments. The shedding on this last, higher powered treatment has really been inspiring. Now it’s alot easier to shave legs when I do, and they’re a whole lot smoother with less irritation.

The change is so gradual that I kind of forget what I was ike originally. But when I think about how my original leg hair was, I’m just surprised at how much less hair remains. One thing about legs though. It seems even if one gets a 70% reduction after four or so treatments, that 30% stubble still drives one nuts. And that’s why I still shave. Because it seems like the less hair I have, the more I pay attention to what remains.

Just make sure it’s something that’s really you, don’t regret it. That’s kind of what I look at as, a customizing of myself. Some guys get tattoos, some women get bust enhancements, liposuction, nose jobs, some people get tusks in their noses and ring spacers in their ears. Me, this is me, this is how I feel best. I’m all smooth and I like it. Not gay, not a cycler, not a bodybuilder, just a clean look. That’s what I like.

I agree 100%. So how often do you shave after the hair reduction? How many treatments have you had altogether?

Even if you are not a bodybuilder, getting rid of the body hair will make your muscles look bigger.

I have had 3 alexandrite laser treatments on my whole legs, yes just THREE, and I used to have the thickest blackest hair, and now it’s been almost 3 years later. While I’m not totally hairless, hair is so fine and unnoticeable.

I only wished I had such success on my arms, which I treated 6 times, with very little success.

Right now I’m in the process of treating my face. It’s been over 12 treatments, hair goes away in patches but seems to come back eventually.

The technician who treated my legs doesn’t work at the clinic I used to go to. Shame, because I cannot believe the success I had with only 3 treatments, and one touch up. I remember it hurting like hell though, none of my other treatments hurt half as much, including the ones on the face.

Hey RJC, yeah it’s like that. I really hate the stubble that the remaining hair has left. It’s always decreasing, but I find myself picking at it. So now I really make huge efforts to shave every single day. Remember how I mentioned that my abdominals were lagging? And my lower, outer legs were best? Now all that has reversed. My ab section has surprised me and I no longer shave it. The remaining hairs are fine and the area is smooth. This could be a cyclic thing, but it looks like the stronger power did the trick. The abs are leading the smooth race.

As for legs, yes, every day, in the shower, 15 minutes, Softsoap and a Gillette Custom Plus Pivot. I love those. Baby oil with aloe while still wet in the shower afterwards. I used 3-blade Gillette Sensors for a bit but found I nicked up my ankles and knees with those. I don’t get how you can re-use your razors. I can really tell the difference in blade sharpness. I just can’t use blades that aren’t sharp and new. I find myself pressing hard to compensate, then getting nicks.

I’ve had just the four treatments. My fifth is coming up in a few weeks. I’m gonna get tortured by the doctor and his beautiful assistant. It’s going to be even a higher power. But still safe(!). The curiosity of what effect it will have is just killing me. I really want to see how the laser works out in higher, more effective ranges. So RJC, you’ve probably posted it here time and again, but how many treatments have you had on legs and how often do you shave? Do you let hair grow?

JamesB3, I think arms are tricky, because they are so tanned. It’s easy to keep legs covered up, but arms, they’re exposed so much, mine are very tanned. It would be hard to hit them with higher, more effective levels. And I hate longsleeves. Jeez, the longsleeve shirts I have (all were received as gifts) still have the new tags on them. So I just deal with arms. I’m thinking of starting a gradual electrolysis program on my arms. That would probably fit the best in my lifestyle. I have to look around for a good place to have that done here in San Diego.

As for your legs, it was probably effective because she gave it to you at realistically effective levels. That makes a huge difference.

Cuz’ I’m smooth and sleek like the fish!

I was wearing long sleeves for years prior to my laser treatments on my arms. My arms were no darker than my legs.

Anyway it really pains me to realize every place I go to here in Montreal undertreats me, despite my telling them that I can’t feel a thing most of the time. It’s daylight robbery, trying to squeeze more sessions out of us it seems.

I remember my legs HURT. They hurt bad (specially the calves), but I had used no anesthetic. I WISH I can be treated at those same settings again for other parts of my body but no one’s game.

I should mention I also had 2 treatments on my chest, with absolutely zero results, which doesnt surprise me, since I felt nothing at all.

From Mantaray:

I have only had two treatments so far but the results are encouraging with about a 40-50% reduction. My practitioner is on her own now and does not currently have any lasers, just electrolysis. So I don’t know what I am going to do for future laser treatments. I don’t really trust anyone else around here to do laser hair removal. She is going to demo some IPL and FPL devices. I will get test spots but still am skeptical about IPL. Several derms and plastic surgeons are claiming that IPL is the wave of the future. I suspect that is because they are multi-function devices.

I shave every day. I usually just use an electric though, the Braun Activator. It does very well and I get results comparable to a blade before I had the laser treatments. When I use a blade I stay smooth for about 2 days. The M3 Power and Venus Vibrance really are better than their predecessors. They shave more closely with less cuts and irritation than the previous generations. You really should give them a try if you have not already. The blades are good for at least 3 leg shaves or two complete body shaves. Others have had even more shaves from them.

I never let my leg hair grow out. I have thought about letting it grow just to see how much is there but I much prefer to be hairless.

I have had only one treatment on my legs, but already notice the hair growing back is much much slower. I look forward to seeing more success stories for the legs on here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
