leaving tiny holes/brown marks

Hi, I’ve posted about this before but it is getting worse. I am still seeing tiny brown “holes” (they look like dilated pores, but aren’t) exactly where my electrologist has treated the hairs. These brown marks/dots/holes are not going away, I do not think they are scabs. They’ve been there since day 1 of treatment, and the more treatments, the more brown dots. Is this normal? Will it go away eventually on its own? Has anyone else experienced this?..

PS, I am not using any product on my face before/after treatment besides witch hazel, TTO and aloe vera post-treatment.

I have had the red dots that turn brown (scab) and then fall off on my upper lip but they always go away 3 or 4 days after treatment but always reappear again after the next. Looks like it is on every hair follicle treated. From what I have read it can be a sign of overtreatment or poor insertions. However, i am a newbie to this whole process so I am not sure. The pros here will comment and give you more information.

How about posting a quality picture so we can see your problem? Can you tell us more about your treatments? No detail is too small.

i go for an hour once a week, she uses thermolysis. before the treatment she applies an anti-bacterial lotion to my face. when the machine “beeps” i hear a sizzle, sometimes a “crack” or like a “shock” sound (like when you touch a staticky tv) … after treatment i’m pretty red, the redness goes away within a couple of hours. scabs fall off in about 5 days and then im left with these brown holes i was mentioning. she “beeps” sometimes twice to three times. …i don’t know what else to say. i have mentioned/showed this to her before and she kinda shrugged it off. but i will definitely mention it again next time i see her. i will add pics tomorrow.

oh, and there is one spot where there is a HUGE brown mark, looks like a freckle, that appeared overnight after a treatment. i will take a pic of that as well. i showed it to another electrologist (i went in for a consultation somewhere else bc i was getting too worried) and she could not believe this appeared overnight, but i swear to god it wasn’t there before, and i am known to overanalyze ever detail on my face so i know it quite well - this wasn’t here before my last treatment.

Pictures are worth more than any detailed description you can provide. Even an out-of-focus or low-resolution picture provides an objective representation that others can evaluate. Please do consider taking and posting a photograph so that others can help you better.

Sizzle sounds sometime happen, but when I hear sizzle, I adjust the intensity or timing or both. One should evaluate insertions as well. How many consultations did you get before you settled on this practitioner?

I get these too on my forehead. I would love to know what the experts think. I thought they were enlarged pores too but then it also looks like somehting might be trapped in there (like a blackhead) but I can’t be sure. I have like 4-5 of them. I also have a few “freckles” from the treatment. I was assuming these are normal reactions…am i wrong?

it honestly reminds me of this post:

where someone talks about how the treatment is leaving brown marks on their toes… can this also happen on the face?

Is this the left side of your face? When was the treatment done?

Facial work is different than toe work. Those pictures of toes from the link you provided shows brown marks. Within a short time, the skin will heal and be normal color, minus the hair. It really works out quite lovely in the end.

this treatment was done about a month ago.

and yes its the left side.

Did you have treatment on the right side of your face? I’ll just go back and read your past posts.

Okay, now I remember your situation. Are you still using AHA’s? How much of could be from the “really bad acne” you say you had? What are you using on your skin now? You are having weekly appointments still, even though you are concerned about the condition of your skin? Your hair is fine and blond, can you cease treatments for now and see how this heals?

Freckling is not an uncommon occurance on the forehead, and can be the result of too much action on the surface. It occurs mostly on olive skin. Do not worry, freckling does fade in time.

No, I’m not using AHAs. None of those little brown dots are from the previous acne, my acne marks are very different/red in color and bigger, these dots are right in the pores of the treated skin… right now i’m not using much on my skin, i cleanse 2x a day with a mild cleanser and then apply witch hazel as a toner and Olay moisturizer with spf. My last appointment was 2 weeks ago, and I think I will take your advice and wait until it heals (fingers crossed)… But if I stop treatments, will that mean I’ll have wasted all of this money? (I’ve put in about 10 hours)… and yes the hair is fine and blonde, but it’s really long and makes me very self concious.

Okay, thanks.

No, I don’t think you wasted 10 hours, but ten hours is not enough time to fully get rid of the bothersome long, blond hairs. I don’t see this kind of skin reaction with my clients. It’s hard to know what this is or what part your electrologist could be playing here. I say “COULD” because you seem to think you heal well after treatment, correct?

Yes, that is my impression… I mean, I leave her office with significant redness that goes away within 2 hours. Tiny little scabs form, no whiteheads, and they fall off within 5 days. Nothing else major happens… Except these marks. I’ve showed her these and she brushed it off, didn’t seem to bother her at all. Which is why I’m surprised that you are advising me to stop treatment, I’d like to think my own electrologist would look at these and tell me the same thing, you know? :frowning:

She has the advantage of seeing you and perhaps knowing more details than me who sits on the other side of the screen. I work on normal skin and shy away from working on iffy skin. That’s my way of doing things. We are all different and you will have to trust your own gut instincts on this. You will hear all kinds of opinions, which can help or hinder. I don’t know how to interpret your picture with all honesty, that’s why I say leave it be for now if these holes were truly not there before hair removal was done. Are they just big pores that you had because of oily skin and bad acne before the benzoyl peroxide kicked in??? Could you be noticing something that was already there when you had hair and now that the hair is gone, you really notice it? That’s what I am pondering. I know you want the hair removed, but you are worried about the tiny holes and your electrologist is not. you can get other opinions from other electrologists that can see you.
