Learning electrolysis in the uk

I’m looking into training to be an electrologist and was wondering which courses are good in the uk

Also I would be looking to do this on a part time basis as I already work and have a young family

I am based in Warwickshire

I am waiting on info from the biae but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations

Thanks

I trained at the HHBTA in Gloucester (not too far from you) to achieve a VTCT (like an NVQ), however I did this to learn the basics and the ability to get insurance. The real work began afterwards by working on myself and family and friends, aided by my amazing mentors. And this forum has been a fantastic resource.
So once you’ve identified a course, find an electrologist who can mentor you - you could try someone you’ve been treated by, if you have a good relationship.
I found the community of electrologists where I live to be very open and supportive.
I’ve also heard good things about the Dectro schools if you fancy a trip to the US or Canada.
Good luck!

The last time I checked, Dectro was conducting their courses in Canada in the French language so if you dont speak french this could be a hindrance to learning.

Thanks for your responses

I have found a course but it is very expensive, over 2k

I’ve come across short courses so will look into a bit more

Just out if curiosity how much is the insurance, I’ve not looked that far?

I just started treatment with an electrolysist so will contact her

Canada sounds great but not an.option

Thanks so much

Hi flowers,

You would ideally want to do a course which qualifies you to obtain public liability insurance.

The Sterex courses are popular:

Really, it depends on what you feel you want to get out of a course. Many who have read the important text books, own a machine and have been practicing on themselves/victims, absorb info from HairTell etc, find the courses on offer here too simplistic and often put forward ideas that we on HairTell at least may find issue with (“anagen only” perhaps?).

By far the most helpful thing would be to find an experienced and skilled electrologist willing to mentor you.

Personally, I would only do a course to obtain the insurance and therefore do the cheapest, shortest one I can find that offers that.

Hi stoppit

Thanks for the info

I have found a few courses so just need to decide
