Laurier probes: Standard v. Kelly

Please explain what does shorter exposed tip mean?

It says that Kelly tip would be ideal for shallow insertions: how to determine if leg, bikini, underarm hairs became shallow enough (towards the end of the treatment after multiple clearances) or not?

In other words, what to look for when trying both (standard and Kelly) to determine which one would work best?

Will be there the advantages if switch to Kelly tip (pain-wise and result-wise) while on last stages of leg, bikini, underarm electrolysis?

Thanks

Also, what about nipple hairs, do they become shallow enough on the last stages of thermolysis to warrant the usage of the Kelly tip probe?

Please explain “last stages” ?

Your choice of Kelly or standard tip depends on the hair structure. Your targets are the papilla, the blood supply to the papilla and the stem cells located in the upper bulge. We are trying to avoid the sebaceous glands and the nearby nerves. The percentage of the lower follicle we target remains relatively constant, however as the depth of the follicle becomes more shallow, that vertical dimension decreases. This is when the Kelly tip comes in. Underarm work seldom requires a Kelly tip also bikini work. These are deep rooted hairs and you would choose a standard tip most often. Upper lip work would be shallow and the Kelly would be called for. I’m sure Dee can expand on this.

Oh, indeed - Mike explained that well. Thanks for helping on that, Mike. Your input is all invaluable!

I reserve my precious, fantastic Kelly tips (smaller exposed ends, and above that quality insulation) for smaller hairs that are not very deep.

When you start a case there will be all kinds of hair structures in different stages of growth on the underarms, areola’s or bikini line. I don’t frequently use Kelly tips on body areas at all - just the face - like the upper and lower lip and vellus blonde hair.

I assume that you are treating hair in the “last stages”, meaning the hair is finer and perhaps not as deep. Being that it is the underarm area, I would not find it necessary to use a Kelly tip at this time. You an use an uninsulated probe with proper energy levels to get the hair to slide nicely and all will be fine. The Kelly tips are like little pieces of gold for me. I use them only when the job calls for the best.
