Laser Recommendation?

I’m looking to get laser treatment again for more hair removal.
However, this time I thought I’d research thoroughly before booking an appointment.

I have white skin (not super pale) and black hair (not dark black). My hair also been thinned out abit since the last laser treatment so its not super thick.

I’ve read that Alexandrite would be the best for me, is that true?

At the moment the laser options i have found are:

IPL Star-Lux and Light Sheer Diode Laser Systems
Gentlelase
Palomar Starlux
Soprano diode laser

Are any of the above worth booking? or should i keep looking?

Please advise and thanks in advanced!

What do you mean by not dark black?? Black is black, anything else is brown :stuck_out_tongue: The gentlelase is the best, since its better in most hands than most other lasers. LightSheer is also great but its more important to have a skilled operator.

Soprano has mixed reviews. It’s effective, but its even more important to have someone who knows what they are doing otherwise you end up with patchy hair.

These photos are graphic proof of what is meant by Emilily with “you end up with patchy hair”

Or what is the same, bad application of laser technology.

That is not a thorough laser treatment. So much of the hair was missed, this person should have complained and had the extra treated for free. This is NOT the sort of result you should expect from laser!!!

The only hairs left over when you finish should be the hairs that are too small to be treated by laser (which you can then kill with electrolysis).

I’m doing my bikini zone and I can assure you it looks nothing like this. I would be livid if I paid for something like this, as would most other people.

I totally agree with MagicalPrincessKitty. My intention was to show the work done by an incompetent person.

Please read the FAQs at the link below. There is a chart to determine your skin type. “Light” or “dark” are subjective terms.

Can you post a photo? The hair needs to be COARSE. If it’s not coarse, it doesn’t matter that it’s dark. Laser only works on coarse hair.

What area do you want to treat?

Also, you should pick a few clinics with the right type of laser to CHECK OUT first via a free consultation. You shouldn’t decide where to get your treatment simply based on the name of the machine. Settings matter a lot. Just because someone has the right machine doesn’t mean that they know how to use it well to give you results.

I would like to have my chest done.

This is a picture of the type of hair I have.

This hair is too fine and light in color. You need electrolysis, not laser.

Does that mean laser will not work because I don’t think electrolysis is suited for very big areas?

Electrolysis is suited for large areas if it is performed correctly with the best thermolysis modes available today. A skilled, aggressive electrologist is needed as well.

Electrolysis can be done on any area. It all depends on the skill of your electrologist and your commitment to treatments. A good electrologist using fast thermolysis method removes 5-10 hairs per minute easily.

Yes, laser will not work and may actually produce more growth. Your only option is electrolysis.
