Laser Recommendation in London (fair skin)

Hi all,

I previously had laser treatments at Renew Medica (new king road branch) with a fantastic technician called Adrienne. They have a Lightsheer laser, which is quite fiddly to use as you need to apply pressure/compression when zapping the laser and she would do it perfectly each time (no missed patches, full shedding, excellent results).
To cut a long story short: Adrienne went on maternity leave about 6 months ago (and she won’t be returning anymore), and she got replaced by a girl called Sara, who previously worked at the Oxford Circus branch of Renew Medica. I foolishly agreed to have a session with her, and she was awful. I had stripy patches of hair all across my legs and hardly had any shedding. She didn’t apply any compression, even though I told her to, and she reduced my joules down to 19 (when Adrienne would treat me at 26 joules) so that my results were non-existant.

So basically I am never going back there again, and I need to find a London laser clinic. Could someone who has type 2 to 3 skin please give me a personal recommendation of a clinic and a specific technician? Thank you in advance.

Arg!! I think I ranted about Sara in my thread. She’s a terrible tech and very rude!

Our usual tech (the one I used and the one my sister, cousin and friend were all using) has recently left the Oxford Circus branch too. My friend once used a tech called Melissa when our usual tech wasn’t available. She was so slow! I felt my friend’s pain as I was waiting in the waiting area for almost three hours whilst her full leg plus bikini were done (apparently she removed all my friends ingrowns too). However, now the usual tech has left, my friend went back to Melissa and she says although she is slow, her treatment seems just as good and is very thorough.

This is all with the YAG though; I know the Lightsheer takes more skill. I can understand how you wouldn’t want to waste any more money trialling but in case you can’t find anywhere else.

Noooooooo. Where has she gone?!

No idea, my friend tried to find out but they weren’t forthcoming.

I think Melissa will be fine. She’s very nice. Both my friend and my sister, who had her underarms treated last week, were happy with her.

I started off with Clare, Tamzin took over when she left and did a great job as well. So I think from what I have seen so far, Melissa will be good too.

How much slower is she? How long does a leg & bikini take if 3hrs is long? I suppose, slow but thorough is fine… I just can’t imagine enduring pain longer than need be. Does she still use the same settings as Tamzin or does she go a bit lower?

Hmm, well full legs plus bikini generally takes 1.5-2hrs.

The pain is only during the firing of the laser. I sometimes asked for more pauses after every few zaps so I didn’t have to be in constant pain. So I don’t think it will be more uncomfortable in that respect.

Settings will generally increase as treatments go on. Because you have less hair and /or finer hair, they can safely increase the settings. If you read through my thread, I mention that settings that gave me scaling during the test patch were fine after I had a few treatments.

I asked my friend the settings question after her last treatment a few weeks ago. She said she didn’t know the settings as she never asked but it was the most painful session she’s had so far, with the area staying very red for longer. I said that was good news!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your input. It is very frustrating to have gone from having a great tech, to the worst tech!

I have had a look around on these forums and came across a positive mention of Laser Clear, which is near liverpool street station. Once I stop procrastinating over it I will book a consultation with them. They are alot more expensive than Renew Medica (£330 for full legs - ah!), but then I wasted £250 on the last session at Renew…

Have any of you guys been there for treatment or a test patch?
