Have you guys heard of the Lightsheer Diode Chill Tip laser? I just want to make sure that this is a diode laser and not an IPL. I have a skin type II. I’m looking at a few different places: Ideal Image, Renaissance, and Smooth Solutions. I live in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Here is the website:
Yes, LightSheer is a diode laser. FYI, SSLHR on this forum is the owner of Smooth Solutions. As you can tell by his posts here, he’s very knowledgeable. An alex laser would probably produce the fastest best results given the same tech experience and skill etc. You may want to explore a few small private clinics to compare as well.
So should I only look at alexendrite lasers? I think I only found one or two places that use alex lasers. Yeah I’ve found a few small clinics I will check to compare prices. Thanks
For your skin type and not the most coarse hair, yes. And even then, you should expect to potentially not get results on the finer hair.
What is the difference between diode and alex? They are both considered to be effective on light skin and dark hair right? Why do you say I only should use alex lasers? How do you determine how coarse your hair is? Does it have to do with how “prickly” it is?
Coarse is usually the type of hair you see on bikini, underarms etc. Alex and diode are both good on light skin, but alex is a bit better on the finer hair, and after a few treatments even the coarse hair get finer. Plus, diode is somewhat more difficult to operate to produce good results.
Please read the FAQs at the link below where I explain this in more detail.
Here is the list of laser clinics I visited:
(Prices are for the same area: back, shoulders, and back of neck)

Spaced 4 weeks apart
$2600

Ideal Image
Candela Gentlelase
5 treatments + 4 free
Spaced 10 weeks apart
Initially they told me $5060, after some negotiation $2530
Additional treatments are a minimum of $40 and a maximum of 20% of the area to be treated
So overall I think Ideal Image is the best place to go. They have enough knowledge there, a reasonable price, and a good follow up treatment price.
Everything is in writing, but from what I’ve read on this forum they lied about the warranty. Would anyone like to comment on that?
What does everyone think about the price and Ideal Image in general? I’ve had laser treatments in the past and they worked while I was doing the treatments but afterwards the hair would always return. So I know I’m in this for the longhaul, I think Ideal Image has the best follow up treatment package for people like me.
Great job on the research.
Ideal Image has good machines and overall a good reputation. Their prices are usually high, but looks like you negotiated a great deal. If they give you everything in writing, including the guarantee, then you should be set. I haven’t read anything here about problems with their guarantees, so not sure what you’re referring to and can’t help there.
Expertise and knowing how to set settings high enough to produce results, but low enough not to burn is very important. If you feel confident in their expertise, that’s very important. Also, their spacing between treatments is most accurate. If you go with the other ones, I would recommend you wait it out longer instead of following the others’ time frames.
[quote=studentblue]Hi SlimJim,
Ideal Images prices are pretty high…and about the lifetime membership…even i was lied to by being told that apart from the 9 treatments there would be one year of free touch ups before the 40$ pricing kicks-in. I think this is not how it spells it out in the contract…I asked the lady twice if it is 1 yr after the entire sessions finish that I would have to pay $40…she said yes but and made me sign the contract…I did a mistake and signed it.
Has anyone else had any experiences with Ideal Image’s warranty?
