Laser on the bikini line - need advice

Hi everyone,

This is embarrassing, but I’d really appreciate your experience. I’m thinking about getting my bikini line / perianal region lasered and I haven’t been able to find first-hand accounts of what each laser cycle feels/looks like.

Before the hair sheds, does your bikini line look completely unpresentable? Does it feel wierd or excessively stubbly? Do you avoid intimacy during this time?

Once the next batch of hair starts growing in, is it itchy (like after a wax), or does it feel natural?

Finally, if I get the lower portions of the perianal region zapped, is there a risk of inducing the fine but dense hair on my butt-cheeks? I have had Laser Induced Growth in other areas so I know I’m prone to it.

FYI, I’m a skin type III and my hair is dark brown and very coarse. I’m hoping to have treatments with a Gentlelase.

Hi there,

I’m not sure if you have ever shaved this area before but the growth of the hair until shedding is less problematic than shaving regrowth. Firstly it comes through quite slowly and for me anyway, it shed quite quickly (finished by week 2). You can help shedding along with gentle exfoliation. It was only a tad itchy during this period. The next cycle of hairs will come through gradually and definitely feels more natural than after a wax.

For the lower portions of the peianal region I think it would be best to tell the tech you only want to treat the exact areas with coarse hairs. No one can say for sure whether it will induce hairs. I mean, I believe I have experienced some induced growth on my fingers but my hands are fine.
