Laser on my beard. I have a serious problem (SS)

Hey! I was sick and tired of tweezing/waxing my beard. There were like 10-20 unwanted … damn hairs above my beard line, below my cheekbone, trying to reach it. God… I was like I’ve had enough! Let’s just burn 'em all. I went to the clinic. It’s a well known private hospital here in my region. I live in Istanbul and my family is from Balkans. Bulgaria/Macedonia to be much more specific. I’m the only werewolf in this family. Not too much hair but it still makes me mad. All my family members are okay. I’m relatively hairy

She and I entered the dermatologist’s room and she said I’m good to go. Pale skin, very dark hair on the sides of my beard

She made an offer the day before. It was my first appointment with her. She said you can determine a new beard line and it sounded like a good idea to me back then. Ofc I never wanted a very short beard line like some guys have. I especially pointed that out. She should’ve warned me about that. She probably knew how it’ll end up but to her it wasn’t a bizarre looking unnatural disaster

Anyway. I was like ‘‘let’s keep it a little bit shorter so I will spend less time to shave it’’. Didn’t know it was gonna be my nightmare

I had medium hair back then. God first few months my face looked super smooth. Then it got hairy while we were getting close to summer. Maybe she lowered the settings. I was in depression after seeing my face so clear for long enough to get used to and embrace it. 14, 16, 18. These are the jules she hit me at. Then it was summer. Well if I’m not mistaken I remember seeing 18J on the machine’s little screen but my face didn’t even stay red for 2 days like the first few. My skin gets red easily. If I scratch it for a few seconds it doesn’t take more than 10 seconds for it to become noticeably red. I’ve had 5 tx in total and 2 touch ups. Redness was gone after a few hours after touch ups. The machine was Cynosure’s Apogee, alexandrite.

And now the areas where I want hair to die still have hair (middle cheek, there is a 1 cm long horizontal hair line on there…) and upper parts of my side beard are gone. It looks ridiculous. I was okay with long hair but getting a buzz cut (I became Hitman for a few days. I had to shave my hair. A hair disaster happened…) made it look even worse. Much worse. I may have a straight beard line but it’s too short and even if I go against the grain my God damn beard doesn’t disappear completely and leave me with a … up face. I wouldn’t complain if I was able to get a clean shave. Like some guys who have thick beard and gets a perfect shave

Now clinics in here aren’t willing to perform it on beard. I made a few calls. Got the same answer. They said ‘‘you should wait, it will grow. We don’t perform it on beard’’ but didn’t give me any specific details. One of them looked pro enough to me and didn’t say that. She just said you’ll regret that. You should let it grow but I’m not sure if they’d do it if I make a decision stick to laser. It’s been 22 days since last session

What I wanna know is
1- How long will it take for my beard to look less unnatural?
2- Will they be thinner than before? (I’m okay with that) Will they become like they were before
3- What if they will come back in parts and look even more ridiculous
4- If I go and want them to remove the sides of my beard (except the goatee area) will I go patchy and have a checker board like beard like these guys in this topic. And about 2nd question. Will they disappear completely or just get thinner. If they just get thinner and then return to original. I don’t see any point. It doesn’t make any sense. It means waste of money and time and I’ll be hurting myself for a lost cause

5- Which model, what brand and what type of laser should I look for? I have pale skin and very dark hair

Thanks for reading my novel. Have a great day

Personally, I believe you are getting yourself too deep into minutia and running yourself crazy by expecting absolute 100% perfection (according to your standards) during every phase of the treatment process. There are more issues here than unwanted hair and laser hair removal. As an electrologist, I wouldn’t touch you with a ten-foot pole.

Thanks for reading my novel and leaving a comment. It made me laugh because it’s telling the truth except the last part because you’re wrong there. I’ve never had a stupid argument with my esthetician. I worked as a salesman. I know how annoying people can be but I’d warn her if I realize she’s leaving skipped parts. I have high standards and I know that I can’t get what I want. There won’t be %100 satisfaction but I’m just trying to get close to it as much as possible. I’m easy to get along with. I finish what I start and I want this to end with satisfaction and I want my beard to look natural again like it used to

Like I said I tend to obsess but my beard is a clear spot and if you saw it you’d know. I hope I’ll see its real pattern soon

All I am saying is that you are way too hyper sensitive and obsessive over the whole thing. It sends up a red flag. You would be an annoying client. As a practitioner, if I picked up on this during the consult, I would send you to someone else willing to put up with more shit than I would. Good luck to you.

I think that good luck was sincere, 44Sin.

So 44Sin, not sure if anyone can reassure you. I know you want answers, but laser on a male beard is not an exact science, my friend. In fact, many have reported swirls of hair left behind, mixed in with hairless areas, much like a marble cake. Your outcome will not be like the next guys outcome, so your questions will not light up the board with answers.

I wish you good luck, too.

Every case is different and only time will show the full outcome. How long is it since you had the last treatment?

It’s been almost a month and I can see some hair roots lying under my skin. From now on I will wait for 2 months and if I see an improvement, some growth (not expecting a perfectly even, great result) I won’t go with laser. Have a good day

Hair is a tough enemy. I hope you get the results you envision for yourself.

Marble cake lol I’m not expecting each hair to come back again. I’d be so happy if I see a higher beard line than it’s now so I’ll be hoping to see a horizontal line on my upper cheek and below can be patchy. I don’t mind that (again not a perfect one just good enough to make it seem higher and better) and you’re right. Hair is a one tough damn enemy. Once it’s surfaced it’s hard to make it vanish. Thanks for the answer by the way. I’ll be updating this topic

Yes, please come back and update us. Don’t stress and obsess too much about hair.

Hey everyone. 5 tx in total and 2 touch ups. Maybe it’s because each session was on low settings but %70 of the missing part of my beard has come back. Left side isn’t patchy at all. Right side looks okay but I don’t see much hair near my mustache. I hope in time they’ll come back too

bad news is they’re all damn thin and I have no idea how long will it take for them to mature
That’s why I’m in a conflict. I’ll try not to laser sides of my beard completely and most of my neck. I have an appointment next Wednesday. I’ll decide what to do with doctor. In here no one is willing to laser your beard. I’ve found only one clinic that perform laser on beard and nurse told me people mostly end up patchy even if they stay smooth. She wanted to say ‘‘you’ll be smooth as long as you keep coming’’… and they have well known lasers like Lightsheer Duet etc. I don’t know what to do. Wish somebody could tell me when I will see all those thin hairs mature and blend in
