Laser on Lower Back (Male)

Hi,

I have read differing opinions about using laser to remove hair on a Male’s back and would specifically be interested to know if laser hair removal is effective (and does not trigger any excess growth) on male hair on the lower back (think Small of One’s Back) --flat area of lower back above the buttocks?

If so, how many treatments and should it take (assuming black hair or slightly olive skin)?

Again, this would be for a male.

Any risk of the laser’s scattered light causing hair to grow in areas where hair is currently not growing on my body?

Would be interested to know others’ experiences and knowledge

Thanks

Make sure that it is actually laser hair removal you are receiving and not IPL, I for one was conned into thinking what I was receiving was laser when it was actually IPL, as I am quite dark skinned they couldn’t therefore use a high fluence and the low fluence caused excessive hair stimulation all over my back when there was no coarse hair there before, if your hair is coarse to begin with by all means go for laser but if not then I wouldn’t advise it as I am now hairier than when I began.

Thanks for your response.

It would be real laser (not IPL).

Anyone else have experience having laser done on the lower part of their back?

I’ve had 3 sessions of Nd:Yag laser on my back - and it was very successful, although I probably should go back for a couple more sessions and finish the job! Mostly that was mid to upper back. I can’t see any reason why lower wouldn’t work too though.

Subject to the usual conditions, of course… Provided you are a good candidate (light-ish skin, dark hair - the coarser the better), provided you are treated by a skilled technician who uses the right settings, and provided you don’t have any other hormonal factors going on that will be causing new hair follicles to be created.

Yes, you got all the conditions for laser to work, as intended. It’s worth a try if you have already had success on your back area.

The lower back is not an area that is controlled by hormones, like the chin is or some other areas. So don’t worry about that. I’m pretty sure that it’s not an area where there is a risk of laser hair stimulation either.

Will consider doing lower back - thanks for confirm DFahey!

I had laser on back and shoulders with very little permanent effect, but i distinctly remember having quite a lot of lower back hair (lower 3rd of back), and most of that is still gone 10 years later. Just an anecdote, but take it for what its worth.

Your input is very much appreciated, joheu.
