Laser in Bangkok

Hi there,

Does anyone know of a GentleLASE practitioner in Bangkok? Can’t seem to find any. I guess because it’s for light skin and there aren’t too many lighter skinned folk over here!

My next best option is Lightsheer I think. I see Bangkok laser surgery uses the Lightsheer HS (high speed) with a 22 x 35 mm spot size. Any reviews on this laser? (Looking to do light skinned II shoulders/back with medium corseness hairs.)

Bumrungrad hospital also uses lightsheer but not sure which type yet. Are all lightsheers much the same?

Thanks in advance!

LightSheer is a diode. It works well in good hands. That’s the trick - to find out whether they know how to use it well. It’s not an easy-to-use machine and there are 2 variables they have to adjust, pulse width and joules.

Those numbers you provided don’t make sense. Spot size on LightSheer is not adjustable and they come in either 9mm or 12mm.

Can you post a picture of your hair? You need to make sure it’s coarse enough for laser in the first place.

Thank you for the reply.

The laser is new I think. The lightsheer duet which you can see at

Has two handsets one with a ‘9 x 9 mm spot size’ and another with ‘22 x 35 mm spot size.’

Will post a pic of my hair once I get my camera sorted. I had a couple of coolglide sessions on back before but didn’t ask any questions and wasn’t very painful(hair grew back.) So will do some research this time.

Thanks for the info. Looks like Lumenis made a LightSheer with a much largest spot size now. That’s great. Can you find out how high the joules and how long the pulse width can go on this machine?

If you didn’t feel much pain, chances are the settings were too low and/or the hair was too fine.

specs are here

4.5-12 joules. 30-400 ms pulse width. The joules seem low but I guess it’s because of the large spot size. Any thoughts on this?

Looks pretty fast and they say a lot less discomfort, but I tend to equate less discomfort to less effectiveness?

I also watched the first video from here -

Claims it’s virtually pain free and a lot cheaper (because it’s faster.) Almost sounds too good to be true.

Cheers

Ah yes. Definitely too good to be true. The joules are way too low and the pulse width is way too high to be effective, in combination. Even if it’s possible to use 30ms and 12J, that’s still too low to achieve permanent damage to the hair.

This is new technology for the most respected diode on the market. I can’t wait to get a demo. I think it’s too soon to judge. The 35x22 spot size is more than 9 times larger than a 9x9, so of course the fluence and pulse width are going to be significantly adjusted.

Yeah, it would seem strange if they had brought out new technology that was ineffective. But LAgirl seems to know her stuff.

I dunno. Maybe I’ll go and guinea pig myself. Will post results here if I do.

It’s worth a try. I’m not sure if such an increase in spot size will mean that those low joules would still affect the hair permanently. It might. It might not. I don’t know whether they tested it for at least a year and then waited at least 6 months to judge permanency on test patients.
