Hi,
I’m in Grand Rapids and I’ve us two different places. Carlson Aesthetics(sp) on the East Belt line in GR. They are very professional, pretty good results(1st time Brazilian) and you can talk about price with Natalie. If you say I sent you, some kind of discount is awarded, I think.

I also tried a Dr in Holland. They are OK,provide a good plan for work to be done. But, they charge $240/hr and maybe not quite as thorough. The Doc is a Gynecologist.

I like Carlson better because you can negotiate with them and no embarassment when discussing the work with them. -Ed K

Eddie - what lasers do these places use? What kind of results have you seen? Price and privacy are the least important issues in my opinion. RESULTS for your money should be top priority.

LAgirl - I had my file pulled at Carlson and they told me that I had NG YAG at 53 joules, 765 pulses @1.2 hz using a 10mm wand. I forgot to ask the laser manufacturer. Natalie said that the first time they use settings that are a little lower to see how I react. I am of northern european descent, so light skin, medium brown hair. The pubic hair seems a little darker.

As for results, I’d say 30 - 40% is gone after about 8 weeks. The lesser amount in the more heavily populated area. No burns even on the most sensitive parts.

I’m not necessarily shooting for 100% hair removal. But, reducing it to where it was before the urologist put me on testosterone or even a lesser amount will satisfy me. However, I am aware that the testosterone is promoting hair growth in the pubic area and the removal will be an ongoing process.

I feel that Carlson Laser is doing a good job and giving me good guidance in an area about which I know nothing. All in all, my experience with them has been a good one. - Eddie

We’d need to know the pulse width as well, but generally the joules are high. This means, as is clear from your skin type, that the best machine for you would be an alexandrite instead of a YAG. However, a Yag would still remove all the very coarse hair, so if that’s your only goal, you’ll be fine. Bikini has coarse hair and responds very well. I doubt you’ll need more than 6-8 treatments spaced 2 months apart at those settings for an almost complete removal.
