has anyone had any success with laser hair removal around their eyebrows? Mine is dark, about as coarse as arm hair, so I think it would work. Also if they do to the edge of your eyebrow with the laser is there a good chance that it would take some of your eyebrow hair, or is it easy to control exactly which hairs the laser gets?
There was a thread on this just a day or two ago.
Laser can only be used on the glabella (uni-brow) area.
You’d be better off with electrolysis altogether.
You can’t beat the preciseness of electrolysis as we go hair by hair. I give my clients a mirror so they can watch and advise. You can’t beat electrolysis for safety and effectiveness.
I’m having a deja vu
Is there still a risk if you do laser on the unibrow spot? Even if it’s tiny, I won’t risk eye damage.
With proper eye protection - no.
BUT there is a risk of taking off more than you wanted to, permanently.
The clinic here claimed that laser is very precise as well and that there is no such risk. i was sceptical about that. i can imagine how other hairs beyond the pulse of the laser are also affected.
If there are no skilled, experienced electrologists near one, then this can be Plan B, but be very, very careful.
The problem is, they don’t want to do electrolysis only. They want me to do about 5 laser treatments first and then they will finish up with electrolysis.
They say that I can mark the exact areas I want to have treated with the laser. My idea is that I keep a little bit of extra hair around the ‘precise’ edges so I won’t risk too much hair removal, and then later they will just make it perfect with electrolysis.
How silly. Most of my eyebrows cases at any one session, takes no more than 30-45 minutes for those first sessions. Thereafter, it’s less time. Preciseness is guaranteed. Are there no other electrologists around?
As we age, we have less hair growth on some areas and more growth on others. Eyebrows are one of the areas where we have less growth. So, if you are worried, find an esthetician to shape them by tweezing and then keep the shape by tweezing them on your own as the tiny hairs begin to grow. The tissue in that region is very thin and can react strongly to any type of hair removal or beauty treatment although the tissue reaction should clear up. The problem with laser in the eye area is if all precautions are not taken, the worst scenario is visual impairment.
If you go to a clinic that only does electrolysis, they won’t have an incentive to convince you to do laser (because it takes them less time).
Yes, you can cover everything you don’t want treated with something white. I still think electrolysis from the start is more efficient and precise. Ask what settings they would use, esp. what spot size.
Again, the only eyebrow area which you can safely be treated with laser is the glabella (uni-brow).
Not sure what they mean by ‘finishing up’ the edges with electrolysis. Those areas HAVE to be treated with electrolysis from start to finish. Laser is too imprecise to give you the shape you want, and is contraindicated in this area by safety issues.
I would just seek out a good electrologist in your area and go from there.
