I have been undergoing LHR for a while now (2 different places for different areas) along with electrolysis.
I just started HRT (spiro, estrogen, progesterone) and am wondering if the LHR people need to know about those. My electrologist knows and I have not too much problem telling one of the LHR places. The only hesitation I have is telling the second LHR place because my wife goes there and she is still not comfortable with this information being “public”.
If it matters, the main place in question uses a YAG (doing areas from the waist down). The other LHR place uses a diode laser and they are doing neck area (as I say, I can tell these people if needed, but if I do not need to…)
Can anybody offer me any insight?
Thank you
Hi Nikki:
I am going to say No! Just my two cents however.
Many women are on HRT and I don’t think it makes any difference
whether they are, or you are as far as their treatment.
If you were going in for major surgery it is different since they want you off the meds beforehand due to surgery risks such as clotting. They would also want you off stuff such as aspirin too since it does the opposite.
If you don’t want them to know to prevent gossip then don’t tell them. People don’t really gossip about such things, do they?
Alicia
Thanks Alicia. I guess the main thing I was worried about was HRT affecting sensitivity to laser or something similar.
Absolutely tell them. All these people are working toward the same goal. You are on medications that hopefully will help obtain that goal sooner. Each business is charting your treatments and results. These charts are not only to keep up with your treatments, but also to study and compare and learn from to benefit future clients with similar situations.
As far as them needing that info to benefit future clients, that is not a good enough reason (this place is in a more rural area - rednecks and trans-people do not go together too well). I only want to know if it will cause problems if they do not know about it. My being on hormones is a pretty sensitive/private topic (outside of anonymous forums).
I am unaware of any HRT drug that would change the way a Light Amplification by Stimulated Emmission of Radiation treatment would be given. I would only explain to a client who I knew was using such drugs to be more diligent to protect against dehydration and to learn how to balance their nutritional intake accordingly. (for expample, the famous Spiro Potassium situation)
Thank you James. I had read something on the estrogen about skin discoloration being possible and that if you get those they should be covered in sunscreen to prevent it being permanent - I assume that you would just want to avoid those areas with laser, right?
photosensitive medication should be avoided as it can cause pigmentation and burns.
