Laser Hair removal and acne

Hi,
I wanted to get my uppper back treated with laser hair removal. I have mild acne on my upper back with few pimples here and there and I was just wondering if it’s ok to still get laser hair removal on that area that has acne? Well my acne get worse if I get that my upper back lasered? Please share your experience if you were in this kind of situation.
Thank you.

I’m not too sure someone else will know better. Few things though, keep in mind you have to shave first before doing laser so if you have a lot of actual pimples, think of how they would react if you shave the area. Meaning you don’t want to shave and cause them to bleed or get infected.

If you can do that though, I’m sure it’s fine, as you can actually doing laser acne removal where the light beam kills the bacteria. I believe that’s done more with IPL though but I think it just depends on how bad the acne is. Worst case just ask the technician at the laser place.

It will actually likely get better. Laser is also used for skin treatments.

However, it sounds like you’re female from your other posts. Laser is likely not a good option for your back. Laser ONLY works on coarse dense hair. You need electrolysis for all finer hair.

Thank you for both your answers. I was actually thinking of electrolysis but mainly I wanted to get some of my facial fairs treated with electrolysis because I heard laser hair removal will make it worse since the hairs are thin.

Laser can make hair worse on any area where the hair is not coarse and dense. Laser is ONLY for COARSE DENSE DARK hair. For everything else you need electrolysis.
