laser for eyebrows?..

Please tell me about this procedure… I worry, that some of “wanted” eyebrow’s hair or even eyelashes may be accidentally treated too…
Which laser is the best choice for it and which one has the smallest spot size ( if I understand correct, to treat an area like eyebrow, we need a laser that can be set with really tiny spot size - 1 or 2 mm … ) Is Candela Nd:YAG a good choice?
PS I’m skin type2, dark and coarse eyebrows… )

Thanks

Laser should only be used on the glabella (‘unibrow’ area). Anything else requires electrolysis.

As a type II, an alexandrite laser would be a better choice.

Thanks for your reply.
Why laser should be used on the glabella only?
I don’t consider an electrolysis after awful experience that caused scarring(((
What’s the smallest spot size available on Candela Nd:YAG and Apogee Elite ? Which spot size techs usually do for glabella?

Laser can’t be used on the eyebrows besides the glabella because of safety. Not a good idea to get the light near the eyes.

Plus, even with the small spot sizes you’d end up with a wonky brow arch. :o

Electrolysis doesn’t cause scarring when performed correctly. You had a bad electrologist.

Spot size used on the glabella depends on your anatomy and specific needs.

No LHR machine has a 1 or 2mm spot size. That would be too small to get permanent results, and would require uber high fluences. GentleYAG VR has 1.5 and 3mm spot sizes, but these are designed for the removal of leg and facial veins, not hair removal.

Laser is not suited to this area at all.

Electrolysis is the perfect option. There is an excellent example here:

My sister is also having the entire eyebrow/gabella/forehead area done with electrolysis. She had some last year from my electrologist, which went great. She is continuing with the electrologist whose work you see in the above post.

That’s not true. Laser CAN be used on the glabella. In fact, this area responds really well. I was done after only 2 treatments with GentleLASE.

I agree though that electrolysis makes more sense if you want to treat other areas on the eyebrow as well. Treating the glabella with laser makes sense if you’re already going in to get another area done. It’s literally one extra pulse, and many technicians will do it for free if you’re already a good customer.

JMISR, stoppit&tidyup , thanks
I understand that I just had a bad luck with incompetent electrologist, but after that I am really scared, because no one can guarantee that it won’t happened again.
Can I ask one more question about lasers?
Everybody says that alex is much better for my skin type. But if Candela YAG works, almost everything shed ( now I am talking about legs lasering ) can I continue with YAG ? Only one thing that I hate - it’s so painful laser(( Also tried Candela GentleLASE Plus, the same shedding result, but also had bruising after treatment ( probably, the tech was not very experienced )
So, my question is - if YAG works fine, is it OK continue with it for legs laser hair removal? Or it’s less safety than alex??

Shedding does not necessarily equal permanent results. If you are truly a type II, GentleLASE would be a better option for you.

You didn’t mention the settings used for your alex treatment, but bruising is a reaction experienced by some. It usually goes away and is not an issue. I would switch back to GentleLASE.

Hi, sorry JMISR - I think I made the same mistake a lot of other posters do. I just hit the reply button at the bottom of your post. I did not actually mean that reply for you! I meant it for the OP and in regards to the whole eyebrow area.

I personally would still would not laser my glabella, unless I had a unibrow and wanted some clearance before shaping and tidying up with electrolysis anyway. In which case, why not go with electrolysis from the start.

Ah, I see! No worries, glad we’re on the same page

I am truly a type II and moreover my legs hair not very dark, somewhat grey and light brown… but surprisingly laser works really good! ( after 3 treatments I have a reduction about 40%, and before my first laser they were coarser and darker, so they turned lighter and thinner after LHR )
Candela GentleLASE is not available for me in this time - I’ve found the only one location with this laser and they ask $950 for whole legs per treatment (ha-ha). But I have around here also Candela YAG and Apogee Elite both for $300 per treatment.
I learned from this forum that GentleLase would work better on me because of its 3 msc pulse width, Apogee Elite with its 5 msc wouldn’t so good…
Do you think that Apogee Elite still will work better than Candela YAG ? ( because I won’t purchase $950 for GentleLASE ), so I have to choose between Apogee and Candela YAG.
What do you recommend?
All your comments are highly appreciated : )

You shouldn’t be doing laser on your eyebrows. It can’t provide precision. And permanent is permanent.

Electrolysis is great in good hands. Laser has side effects too in bad hands. Don’t put off all electrolysis due to one bad experience. I’ve had both laser and electrolysis done on multiple areas successfully, including electrolysis on the eyebrows without any side effects.

Read the electrolysis forum here for some inspiration, photos, and stories.

And add your location to your profile. We may have recommendations of specialists in your area.

Apogee Elite is good too. 3ms vs 5ms is not a huge difference. It’s all a matter of skill in treating and settings ALL variables in settings well.

Actually, I have one more variant to choose - LightSheer, but because of its difficulty to operate and some negative reviews I am not sure that it’s a good choice. What do you think about LightSheer, would you recommend it?

Thanks.

Once again, all is dependent on the person operating it. It can be the best machine, but if they don’t know how to use it properly, it won’t get you results.

Thank you!
I couldn’t find how to add any info into my profile)
I live in Louisiana, near Baton Rouge.
If somebody would recommend an experienced electrologist in my area, I’ll be happy

Does it mean that all LightSheer,Candela YAG and Apogee can work the same good on me in a good tech’s hands?

All things being equal and assuming you’re being treated by someone who’s using their machine in the most efficient manner, you would be best off with an alexandrite type of laser given that you’re a type II. So GentleLAE and Apogee would be best. I’d only go with others if there is no one in your area who has an alex and is skilled. It’s a big city, so it shouldn’t be a problem. Click Advanced Search in the box at the top and search for Louisiana. There have been previous GentleLASE recommendations there. Expand the search to 5 years or so. I assume this is for legs and bikini and NOT for eyebrows though, which I don’t recommend.
