Kree Method?

Hi Everyone,

I am going for my first electrolysis apointment in 1 week to remove hair from the upper lip area. The woman I selected has 25 years experience using the Kree method, short wave thermolysis, and she charges $25 for 15 minute sessions. She is very busy and it takes some time to get an appt with her. She is certified and located in Philadelphia.

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on whether the kree method is good (I read the blend is better) and will i be able to get a full clearance the first session. Also, how often do you have to go for treatments to keep the area clear?

Originally, I was going to do laser but found out you can’t go in the sun while getting treatments. I figured with the summer coming and vacations that would not be a good idea. I have been tweezing for years and she told me to stop now and only shave the area till my appointment. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Any modality listed under the banner of electrolysis will permanently disable hair follicles. THEY ALL WORK and we electrologists lean toward and usually stay with what we know best. I personally, push myself to know how to do all methods and then I choose the modality by hair type, client’s skin type and sensation factors. I will demonstrate to some clients what blend feels like and what thermolysis feels like.

The Kree Method is a name out of the past. How did she explain what the Kree Method is to you?

Hi Dee, She simply said that it is short wave thermolysis. She seems very experienced and has a busy practice. I can question her more when I go for the appt.

My other problem is that I can’t tweeze anymore just shave till my appt. which is one week away. I have been tweezing that area everyday for years. So this morning I just shaved the area as she said to do but I have these dark hairs under the skin surface and they look like black dots above the lip. Is there anything I can do to cover that while waiting for my appt. Will bleaching the area help? I imagine there will be more and more as the week goes on till I get there next sunday. I don’t know if i can make it that long. Any advice, please help!

Yes, with the amount of tweezing you have done over time, those hairs will keep coming. Some people shave and use makeup to cover up. Is DermaBlend the makeup I’m thinking that many like?? You would have to ask your electrologist about bleaching as some don’t want you to bleach.

If my ladies are just beginning and we are dealing with the results of a steady flow of hairs returning in good numbers, day after day, it is best to have those weekly appointments to clear the new hair if you have any self-control issue that may make you want to tweeze in between appointments. Once these hairs are attacked and the regrowth slows down, you can spread out your appointments and it will be easier to shave or clip at that time. Hopefully, she can clear you every single time.

Kree is manual thermolysis, but it is nothing special as far whether it is better than another modality. It will work just fine. We all can do thermolysis that is longer than one second, which is what she is probably doing well, I assume.

The last Kree epilator was made in the middle to late '70’s. Epilators never die!!! and electrolysis is permanent!!! How many professions have those bragging rights?

I am not sure I can make it till next sunday, I may ask her for an earlier appt. to clear this growth and then follow up as often as needed, every week until it is under control. It is so hard not to tweeze, I am surprised at how hard it is not to!

The cover up makeup is a good idea. I really didn’t think it would cover that dark of spots but I can try. I will ask her about bleaching do you have any suggestions of bleach I could use as I have never used that before.

It is good to know that it will be permanant as there is no end to the plucking and waxing. I dread this week and already can’t wait to go!

Also, the Kree method sounds pretty standard. I wish it was something special like the blend but she is close to my house and easy to get too also she has lots of experience which I think is good I guess I will find out more when I go. If you have a better idea as to methods please let me know. I just don’t know many others locally to try.

If you can stay close to home, that is ideal. The method she uses is just fine. YOU have to be the judge as to skin reaction, ability to clear the hair as humanly fast as possible, sensation and general cleanliness measures.

I don’t do manual thermolysis because I have a different machine/epilator and a different strategy. That does not make me better than her and what she can do. If you got consults from ten different electrologists, you would have ten different paths to glory, if they were all equally skilled. As a consumer, it is up to you to decide which path is best for you. That’s all! Good luck and don’t be a stranger here!

I agree about staying close to home…I work everyday outside the home so that isn’t possible but I won’t be scheudleing any dates…LOL.

I will keep you posted on my progress. Thanks so much for all of your help!

Looks fine to me. The only thing that she might be doing differently is, wearing gloves or at least finger cots since this information is from 8 years ago.

Thanks Dee. I will post back after my experience.
