Hey everyone I’m new to the world of electrology ,but I’m completely fascinated by the whole thing. I have a kree imperial electrolysis aperatus how ever it seems as if something is missing I was wondering if anyone could give me some more insight on this " model 200" it has the obvious 110v plug. a foot peddle with corresponding port/input and a “needle cord” port it’s red. however there is no sponge cord or other input or port and maybe I’m wrong but I think there’s supposed to be a negative and positive.
Holy cow. I bought one of these in the early 1970s … and another one in 1976. These are thermolysis units (only) and full-fledged antiques. Those “pre-sets” were just buttons that did absolutely nothing; I mean not even connected to anything. I wonder what happened to Gero Artinian? Kree had a 90-hour course in NYC and they used to advertise, “Take a vacation in New York, and go home with a profession.” How sweet?
That is sweet !!! I pulled it apart and had to replace the 110v cable the insulation around the wire was so old and dried out it was crack open and exposed I moved the wires slightly and all the rubber around it just fell off luckily I didn’t plug it in beforehand . So everything comes on now but what are the chances of this thing still working ?
I have one of these and about to sell it. I forgot that I had it since I bought it on a whim then turned around and got the ST250 a couple of days later. It definitely has that antique charm.

What is the difference between the Galvanic, Thermalysis and the Blend and is one better than the other? Which takes longer? I thought I read somewhere that one of these can take up to 3 minutes for each hair. Is that true?

Galvanic destroys hair by creating a chemical reaction in the follicle, Thermolysis does so using heat and the Blend combines both.
You will get different opinions on which is better depending on whom you ask, but they all three work when done properly.
The pure Galvanic systems were the slow ones that you read about. 3 mins per hair would be extremely slow though and would be on a very low setting.
Galvanic is the mode of the little home numbers.

Sorry for the delay! From what I read the egg test is meant to show how the thermolysis works and the pattern it makes when using high frequency current. One would put the probe of a thermolysis unit into the the eggwhite on an aluminum sheet and apply current. The egg white should coagulate around the probe however I was not able to replicate this because my unit is not working . This was from the book "electrolysis thermolysis and the blend.

As one of this site’s most infamous DIY’ers, welcome to hairtell , and I’m sorry I’ve been a little occupied and didnt get to this right away.
I’ve personally used an ST250 and can give you some feedback on it. As far as having presets it does have them, but once set the energy levels are inflexible and cannot be adjusted. I found the footpedal for the ST250 a little clunky but I might have gotten used to that had I worked with the machine enough.I dont really know how it performs with blend, but it had good steady energy in thermolysis and was most effective .Because of the inflexability of currents, I dont recommend it for blend but I could be wrong.I wouldnt necessarily buy this machine for DIY but it is a descent professional grade epilator.
I do recommend if you are going to try DIY that you do so with blend electrolysis. Of the three modalities it is the one that will give you the most efficiency without undue hazard from higher thermolysis currents.I dont recommend you use that Kree for DIY for several important reasons, first as Michael stated it’s ancient and in unknown operating status. Before such a machine should be used again I would normally recommend it’s servicing and calibration by a qualified electrolysis equipment service center, such as Texas Electrolysis Supply . Second, it’s a thermolysis only machine, and I DO NOT recommend thermolysis for DIY. You will cut skin, you will cause permanent scarring through the inaccurate application of thermolysis currents ( and as a DIY’er your insertions are inaccurate).
I do also recommend you do a lot of reading before attempting to do DIY. The text electrolysis Thermolysis and the Blend by Hinkel and Lind already suggested is one of the most commonly used texts. It’s a tad dated from 1969 but the principles presented in it are the same as used in electrology schools today . Also recommended are the following texts
Milady’s Hair Removal Guide by Helen Bickmore
Cosmetic and esthetic Permanent Hair Removal
Or you can try Michael Bono’s The Blend Method available from Texas Electrolysis Supply.
All three of these texts will have enough information to get you going.What they al havein common however, is they begin by assuming a manual…dial…epilator (preferably one capable of the blend method so able to deliver currents of both thermolysis and galvanic.
The Kree’s unfortunately are too old to be safe, were unreliable , and it could even be dangerous to try and use them. Dont do it. If I were looking for a used epilator I would maybe try looking for something like an older clareblend, hinkel, instantron, silouette tone Fischer or apilus. The Apilus will have the advantage of using presets which are more vaiable than the silouette tone machines but you are on your own in so far as learning to use them whereas with a manual dial machine you can follow the texts instructions more easily to establish things like the working point . These things come up frequently on kijiji, and occasionally on craigslist.
If you dont send your kree to the electrolysis museum I’d like to offer my office waiting room as an opportunity for wall art, but thats about all it should be used for.

Of the three books I talked about there is one I have never even read.It’s Yours Michael Bono.I did finally after all these years get around to buying a copy with my last order of sterilization pouches, but I never got to even open the cover before my co-electrologist Nancy whisked it away to hawaii.I’m told its DIY friendly though 
Thanks for the input about the st250. The whole concept of electrology including the history is so amazing and interesting I’m not a diy’er however I’ve never found anything as interesting as this other than working on motorcycles I may consider goin to school for it .
I have 4 books and Michael’s was the only one I used. The ST-250 was my home unit, the Apilus was the one used at professional treatments.
