K/F shank for Sterex machine?

Hello everyone,

I think both K shank and F shank are compatible with the Sterex machine SX-B but what is the most suitable and is there any difference on the treatment? And generally which model/brand needle would you recommand for blend (I would like to try the bulbous tip, do you know if Laurier is the only one to offer this feature)?

Another question concerning insulated probs, if the current flows only at the tip and so destroys only the papilla, what about the anchor and the steem cells above the anchor that are not touched by the current?

You don’t need insulated probes for blend, but if you insist then you have to use insulated probes designed with blend in mind where they would have more exposed tip to allow a full teardrop of current to rise and cover 2/3 of follicle.

As for K vs. F shank, I think the overall difference in performance is negligible at least in my non-pro experience and observation.

F shank probes are most common and they’re easier to load into the probe. K shanks are slightly better when you bend them and still have full exposed tip, but difference is very minor.

Thank you for your response

And I read somewhere stainless steel needles are made with Teflon, are they all made with this material?

no stainless steel is a nickel and steel alloy. Teflon is often used as insulating on probes however.
