Just had laser on underarms, Elite MPX--results?

Friday evening, I had laser hair removal on my underarms. It was a Cynosure Elite MPX. She used it at 14J/20mm. It hurt, but was not unbearable. I could smell burned hair afterward. She said it looked perfect, there were some goosebump-like spots rising up. However, they went away after 20 minutes and there was no redness. There is very mild soreness if I pull on the hair, but none when I touch my underarm. The hair feels rougher, scratchier. What I was wondering is, shouldn’t it be shedding already? I’ve tugged gently at every one of my hairs, and about 20 total (maybe less) have come out. The others appear to be growing, but are SOLIDLY stuck in the follicle. Even a less-gentle tug and they won’t come out, it hurts a bit like when I normally pluck a hair (so obviously I didn’t go that far with many of them). I felt the difference between the ones that pulled out easily, and appear short and kind of gnarled, and the ones that seem to be growing (most of them).

Was the laser too low to do anything? I’ll be extremely pissed off if I wasted a session, money, and went through that pain only to shed maybe 2% of my hair (or less, I don’t know how many hairs I have).

Edit: She said that six sessions was a good start and would remove 65-70% of the hair, but from what I’ve read, after 6 sessions, with a quality laser like that, it should be more like 90-95% after six sessions. Is this a case of stringing me along so I pay for more sessions?

The redness on the left is from the light in the room.

Shedding times have been mentioned soooooo soooo many times on these forums already.

It generally starts about 1.5 weeks after treatment and continue to 3 weeks after.

You need to re-assess at 2 weeks and if there is still obviously growing hair, let them know and request a touch up treatment.

It was probably 20ms p.w.

As mentioned, it takes 3 weeks for shedding to complete. You’re trying to assess things way too early.
