Just had enough!

Are you referring to laser or electrolysis, regarding the statement that “unfortunately there is no guarantee that it will work for anyone”. Electrolysis can be performed on any hair type and any skin color. And if performed by a skilled electrologist, why wouldn’t it be guaranteed permanent?

I’ve known one electrologist who guaranteed her work. As long as the client followed ALL of her scheduling and other recommendations, she guaranteed her work - or provided free treatments after a certain time. I don’t know if she ever had to do that…

One reason that electrologists don’t use a guarantee is that it almost requires that the client guarantee that they won’t grow any new hair - you know, the ones that come from hormonal imbalances and other genetic or physiological causes…

Both laser and electrolysis work well and permanently if done properly. But I suspect you’re only here to promote your site.

ErinHailey has been suspended for spamming the site with ads for The No-No device, while attempting to discredit proven forms of permanent hair removal.

Hi I’m new and I am looking to use an epilator to remove hair it’s by Braun the type is Silk-epil Xpressive it’s been noted as a very good one and the cost is about $100. So my questions is why is this sooo bad to use? I know there’s pain involved and I have not bought one of these well since the first type came out in the 90’s and I think they’re made differently now so I hope its easier to use.

On this site you all seem to state that the only real choices you have to remove hair permanently is by ELECTROLYSIS or LASER when really only electrolysis is the only permanent hair remove system. But I really think we have to look at the whole picture when it comes to long term use. Because if you wax often the hair will come back sparse and for most the hair will die off and you will have no hair but this takes time so it to could be called permanent but only in doing it long term. I think the same is for epilating the hair will becomes sparse and will disappear after long term use. I guess the question is MONEY for most because in this industry the cost for electrolysis is very expensive because its long term and even more so for laser. Which I’ve done electrolysis and I can never get a time frame on how much time will it take for you to remove my hair totally for whatever area it may be. I don’t like VAGUE answers if you’ve been doing this for a long time you should be able to tell roughly how much time it will take to complete the JOB!! And I have heard by many people who do LASER say it permanent and why are you saying this if its noted as not permanent may be after LONG TERM USE. But you are all eager to scream up and down that WAXING is not and EPILATORS are not. Sometimes it sounds like a money making scheme.

If the industry would just put together cheaper prices to get more clients and still perform a superb service for the clients I could this these two methods going even further. The idea of these type of procedures is to make it affordable for almost all because when it comes to making money something is better then nothing. Having more clients and charging less will bring you more MONEY always in the long run and who doesn’t want to make MORE MONEY these days. To all you people out there who do LASER and ELECTROLYSIS you should really take this into consideration because with the way the economy is I find it hard to believe that this is a booming industry.

People who don’t have a lot of money couldn’t afford to do this long term without hurting somewhere else in the long run. LIKE putting themselves in DEBT. Which is what we don’t want to do, this is why this county is so messed up in the first place. Lets think about this and maybe for those who do these methods for living might have a change of heart and start helping those in need. And when I say help you will only be helping yourself in the long run because you will have more money and more clients and how could this be bad. As for insurance EVER paying for something like this well maybe it will have to be compared to BRACES some insurances pay for this so why not hair removal, braces are to help with your over all appearance so why not this!?! Is the anyone out there who could help with anything of this at all!!

You can go ahead and use it for a temporary measure but that’s all it is.

What proof do you have that waxing or electrolysis gradually destroys hair follicles?

If this was the case, people would not be turning to Laser or electrolysis.

IMO from my own personal experience of many years of use, epilators are horrible machines that break many hairs instead of plucking them out. They cause horrible ingrowns and distort the hair growth. I would stick to waxing.

A good electrologist who is doing his/her job properly WILL be able to give you a rough timetable for completing the job if YOU stick to the treatment plan.

As for Laser, I had only 3 treatments on my bikini like for approx 95% removal of hairs. That was complete about 2 years ago and is still the same. How is this long term use? It was money very, very well spent for me.

Epilators don’t do anything to the hair except make the roots curled and create more opportunities for ingrowns. Waxing and epilating just pulls out the hair. It doesn’t prevent follicles from producing more hair. In fact, research indicates that done continually, this makes the hair stronger and more resistant.

Electrolysis and laser are the only methods that destroy the follicle from producing hair. This is a fact, no someone’s opinion. No other method is able to do this. You’re repeating old wives’ tales, not proven scientific facts.

Laser and electrolysis work great and are 100% permanent in good hands on the right type of hair. If results are not being achieved, it’s the result of bad technique. It sounds like your friends didn’t do any research and were basically scammed. The rest of us who got great results and have been enjoying hairfree areas for 5+ years don’t need to prove anything to you or anyone else.

The question of cost is a personal one. What’s “worth it” to one person may or may not be worth it to another. One person may choose to spend money on a brand new car, while to another having a hairfree life is more important than showing off material possessions.

I have a feeling you don’t actually know how much laser costs. It’s not that expensive for simple smaller areas like bikini and underarms. You can remove 70%+ of hair on your underarms for the price of that epilator, for good, permanently.

Electrolysis takes 12-18 months. The problem is not electrolysis, but the client’s ability and willingness to stick to treatment schedule.

The lady with PCOS that came to me with a thick, coarse beard all over her chin, upper lip and neck, who spent approximately $2,500, spread out over 9-18 months, didn’t think it cost too much. She doesn’t have a beard anymore and she has re-gained her confidence and her self-esteem. You will just have to accept vague answers about this and other things in life. We are dealing with human beings here with unique genetic, hormonal and perhaps medical problems. We have to be vague because lying to people with made up numbers isn’t cool in the end.

How many clients should we see in a day? This isn’t Sam’s Club. We can’t offer bulk electrolysis or laser. We are offering our labor and in my case, I can only see so many people in a day. When I have to do some contortions in order to work on a lady who needs to sit in the chair because she can’t fit on my table, I have to go slower and I am a bit sore after the session. If someone wants a five hour appointment, I can’t physically see 10 more people after her. So having more clients to make it cheaper is laughable.

Then go to a better place than America, like North Korea maybe?

Okay, got a mission for you. If you convince the landlord to reduce the rent, convince the electric company, the gas company, the insurance carrier, the supplier of probes, cotton balls, witch hazel, aloe, tea tree oil, table coverings, epilator, needle cord, forceps, sterilization needs, property taxes, state/federal/local and school tax collectors, communication companies (internet and phone), continuing education (for which I travel to on my Sundays off and sometimes pay for a hotel) and license renewal bodies to give me a break, so I can give the needy a break, then I will charge less, to reduce their prices. Same goes for the laser specialists. Great lasers can cost $100,000.

No, I won’t be helping myself in the long run to see more clients, because what I do is physically demanding and my back, neck and hands will be destroyed. This is not a cattle call type of business. Again, we are dealing with human beings with complex and not so complex hair problems who need tender loving care. As far as braces, well, maybe the orthodontist lobbyists are stronger than the electrologist (haha) lobbyists??? Also, poorly aligned teeth can lead to other problems?? someone else can speak to this point.

I wonder if this poster is Erin Hailey? If this is Erin, you don’t have to register as someone else to make your views known. If this is someone unrelated to Erin Hailey, I apologize. I want to add that the economic education in this country is very poor. Concept #1: People ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE are not going to work for free and what you are suggesting will assure that no one will be available to remove hair for anyone.

If anyone wants to use an epilator, then you have the freedom and thus the power to choose to do so. It is a temporary method of hair removal.

 I just want to say that no, I’m not ERIN!! And to be quite honest I didn’t know that my post was going to be dissected by the HAIR TELL EYEWITNESS NEWS. I will say this that my post should have been specific and point to bigger establishments and not some  ONE MAN SHOW who happens to be running this out of their basement or renting a small office. This was to be directed to places that specialize in LASER or ELECTROLYSIS that have a larger staff and are doing this on a daily basis. These establishments should be able to offer professional well trained people who know what they are doing and at the same time put out rates that are affordable to most like a payment plan and low rates. For all those people who want to do this and are willing to pay whatever then that’s their choice but not mine and I bet not a lot of others!! And I really hope that in the near future that LASER products will be available to use at home with ease and at a low cost as well as work efficiently!!

So my question is to those with great advice and experience with removing hair via all types of ways. If LASER and ELECTROLYSIS did not exist at all today and all the other methods did what type of hair removal method would you choose as a long term hair removal method and why??

 Thanks and sorry if I offended anyone that was not my intention this is a place for advice and not a place for fighting over silly stuff or dissecting peoples posts. What a waste of time and negative energy!! People are calling out for help as well ways to make life easy and affordable.

The ErinHailey screen ID was suspended for, among other things, posting links to web sites that distributed disinformation, and sold unreliable services and products, most specifically The No-No, which is in our scam hall of fame already. The only reason the poster was not permanently banned was the off chance that it was NOT just one of the usual fly by nighters who create a screen, spam the board and never return.

This is ridiculous. First, I haven’t spammed anyone.
And I was just saying there’s no method able to guarantee 100% result. Isn’t that so?! Not trying to discredit whatever methods you are promoting here. [/quote]

Well, part of the problem with what you are saying is that one of the reasons this site exists is to make sure people have an outlet to get enough information to see that at this point, Electrolysis is the gold standard of hair removal, followed by LASER, and everything else is just temporary, and has side effects that may lead to worsening of the hair problem in the long run.

As for the economics of hair removal, we are also here to show that for a large amount of the hair removal community, getting professional work done is far more economical than trying to do amateur work at home under the best of circumstances. For others, while getting books, equipment and a partner may save money, it may not save your skin. Lastly, if you are dedicated enough to really learn how to do this, and buy good equipment, then welcome to the industry! Now please, go forth and help others who need hair removal done with skill and care. I wonder how much you will find out that you have to charge to keep your ability to devote time and resources to this endeavor.

No one can answer for you what the BEST temporary method is because BEST is different for different people with different hair types and needs.

The fact is that laser and electrolysis ARE available and provide permanent results. And with prices for laser nowdays, you’d have to pay me a lot of money to go back to waxing or shaving any areas with coarse hair again (if I had any hair like that left, that is). For that $100, you can get 5 laser treatments on underarms or bikini nowdays with some of the coupon specials being sold online. You’d have to do your research to find a good clinic, but it’s possible.

And I personally would never use an epilator given then ingrowns issues its usage creates. Waxing is better in my experience if you want something more long-term than shaving.
