Hi,
I just began electrolysis here and would like to keep you updated on my progress so I can get feedback on the treatments as well.
I’m a 21 year old female, light skin, dark hair (south asian descent) and have had a problem with facial hair since puberty and recently decided that I was sick of waxing & nair because of the breakouts I’d get after. My upper lip is not a problem (I just thread it and its not a lot of hair) but I get a lot of chin, lower neck, and cheek hair. Its fine on the cheeks (can be bleached) but the chin hairs are more coarse. I’ve started electrolysis first on the cheeks, mainly b/c I just started school and dont want to grow out the chin/neck hair.
My electrologist is using Thermolysis, worked one hour on my cheeks last week. My cheeks felt sore for a couple days, and I felt like I broke out too, there were a lot of little pimples after. dont know if thats from the electrolysis. Just wondering, how much of my neck hair do I have to grow out before I can start there? I dont want it to be too obvious. Also, any other girls doing electrolysis, keep me posted on ur progress too.
are you using proper aftercare and keeping the area dry and clean? avoid makeup on that area for a day or two. use witch hazel after treamtents for a few days at least. also, if you haven’t already, sample several electrologists and compare post-treatment skin condition.
hairs have to be long enough to grasp with tweezers. you should stop plucking altogether after you start areas. you can clip and shave though.
Thanks, I broke out less after my 2nd session.
Please remember that Tea Tree Oil overnight the night of treatment and the two days after, will help heal everything much faster.
Hey,
I’m also new to electrolysis and so glad to have found this forum :o)
I have always had fine but dark hair pretty much all over my face but it’s been worse since I had Yag laser on my sideburns…it was so expensive and not worth it for me as I ended up with monster hairs on my cheek and jawline, I don’t know why I didn’t consider electrolysis seriously before…all that time messing about with expensive and ineffective laser (well, for me at least).
Anyway, I’ve just had my second hour of blend but already I’m getting niggles of frustration. My electrologist is really busy and can only do an hour every 4 or 5 days but I have stopped tweezing/waxing altogether so my face is quite visibly furry :o/ And it is very far from being cleared…what should I do? I’m really opposed to shaving my face but I can’t use depilatories because of the pimples that I have gotten after treatment (despite following aftercare instructions - honest!!)…would it be ok to visit an additional electrologist initially to clear up my face quicker or is that a no-no? I’d appreciate your thoughts…
By the way, should tea tree oil be applied neat or diluted?
there is nothing wrong with shaving or clipping the hair on your face in between treatments. it won’t affect the hair. however, you may want to consider another electrologist and someone who uses faster thermolysis method if this one can’t fit you in more frequently as it’s important to catch the hair in its first phase of growth to kill it.
diluted is usually better if your skin is sensitive.
