itchy

I have been getting electrolysis on my stomach and in between my chest. Lateley i have been getting really itchy on the area i have got treated. The middle of my chest is red even though all my scabs are gone (it has been 3 weeks since my last treatment and im getting 4 more hour done 2mmorow) So i just want to know why it casuing this redness/itchiness
Also i use witch hazel and put on paw paw ointment during day and tea tree oil on at night? so do you rekon that would be it

What is paw paw ointment! Ingredients?

I would stop using the tea tree oil. Just three days worth after a treatment is enough usually. It sounds like your skin is too dry, thus the itching, and tea tree oil could be contributing to this.

Some cool aloe vera gel would be soothing. Have you showed your electrologist and asked her for advice as well?

Aloe vera or cortisone cream would ease the itching. Your skin may be having an allergic reaction to one of the things you’re using or it may just be dry. Try stopping using products.

Being itchy right after a treatment can be caused by a histamine reaction that is in the normal realm of things for most people. Does it start right away and last or come on later?

Are you scratching? If so, stop!

I wouldn’t use paw paw ointment. I assume you’re using the Lucas one? It is actually more petroleum jelly than paw paw fruit, and while its good for some thing I think the better moisturiser to use in this case would be as close to pure aloe vera gel as you can get.

Hi guys sorry for the late reply back - my internet has been broken for quite a while now :frowning:
Anyways - yes emilily it is that paw paw oitment - the reason i was using it becasue my electrologist told me to do so :S i tried looking for aloe vera gel - but i could only find 99% - and it looked white and it didint look natural the chemist lady said there are some preservatives to keep it ok in the bottle so im assuming thats not good to use. and i just relised i have an aloe vera tree at my house - can i use that stuff? straight from the tree haha
The itching would start c couple of days after i think becasue my skin is dry. It doesnt itch anymore - but at night when im sleeping i think i subconsiously have an itch haha
thanks for all your replys btw everyone

Laylah ~

The 99% aloe vera gel would have been fine to use. If it is a clear gel, that is what you want. The gel from the aloe vera plant is truly 100% natural and that would be good as well. It is very sticky though. You definitely can use the gel from the plant, so don’t hesitate to do so! I like to store the gel you purchase in the refrigerator and use it liberally. You can do the same for the plant, too, but I think it is harder to use.I have snipped off part of the plant and stored it in a plastic bag.

Please forget the paw paw ointment and stick to the gel you purchase or the gel you squeeze from the plant.

ok dfahey im going to buy that aloevera gel today  thanks for the help

Hi again - i have been using aloe vera religiously. I had another treatment in between my chest and stomach about 3 days ago - bacsically now my skin is red and itchy from the area treated. Previoulsy after 3 days i would just have the little scabs but now i have a huge red patch where i got the areas treated. I have been using aloe vera but doesnt seem to be making a difference. Is this normal? should i wait longer and see what happens ? Btw i have been using Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel it says it is 100% and it is clear. WHat do you guys think? thanks

You can try calamine lotion instead. Wear loose fitting clothing as well.
