Is this true?

If i keep shaving an area that doesn’t have much hair will it grow more hair?

Hi Kim:

Definitely not!

That is an old wives tale as they are called.

Allow me to pile on - ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Nope. It is 100% impossible, shaving is nothing more than a close trim.

This myth developed because most people start shaving at puberty, and puberty hormones happen to trigger a lot of hair growth. Some very unscientific people then assumed that the shaving caused it and passed this “wisdom” down through the generations. Also, because shaving leaves a blunt end on the trimmed hair (instead of the natural tapered tip), it feels a bit thicker as it grows back. This is an optical illusion, the hair isn’t actually thicker.

 It is entirely false, just an old wive’s tale. Shaving is actually the safest form of temporary hair removal.
