Is this scabbing normal?

Hi,

I am looking for some honest opinions…I am 6 days post “test patch” on my upper lip. The therapists comments were - the hair was fine, there wasn’t any large bulbs, and it would be red for a day or so. Scabbing started the next day and now 6 days later scabbing, redness and the appearance is giving me some concern.

Is this normal?

No

Thanks, Can you offer any advice on why it has turned out like this?

For this type of hair you shouldn’t have any scabs AT ALL. Have the electrologist use insulated needles by Laurier … they really do work and very well in such cases. NO SCABS! (Well, at least scabs that you cannot see … maybe with a microscope.)

not normal, very large for this area which Michael correctly asserts should not scab at all, and if this is only a test patch, I would seriously consider trying out some other electrologists in your area. As Michael has suggested a insulated probe doesnt give results like this, but I also think the electrologist was too shallow and damaged the surface tissues. It should heal, but if this is the major area you are having worked on then I’d try someone else.

Thanks very much for your advice, I think I will cancel my next appointment and try someone else. I will speak to them first and find out if they use an insulated probe.

Sounds like a good approach, Lak. It appears that the insertions were too shallow, thus an insulated probe like the Laurier IBP’S would be a good tool to use. Don’t pick off the scabs.

I eventually managed to speak to the therapist. She has asked me to go in tomorrow so she can see what the damage. As far as I know she has many years experience but I will see what she thinks tomorrow when she sees it for herself.
