Is this Permanent scarring ?!

Hello,

5 weeks(!) ago I had my first full brazilian electrolysis session. She used thermolysis with a gold probe, was insanely painful even with numbing cream. My hairs are thin and sparse compared to what other people have going on in that area but it’s still coarse intimate hair.
The whole area was raw and inflamed and deep painful red bumps, just like what people with acne get on their cheeks or chins, formed, then scabbed over. I also got an ingrown hair inside like 8 follicles (never had those before in my life).
This is the situation today, over a month later. Is this normal? Did she overtreat? Could this possibly be permanent?

given the treatment, this looks pretty okay actually. I dont see any real cause for concern. Scabbing and bumpsare mormal for body work, especially in thermolysis.Give the skin time to heal.

Just letting you know that it’s now been over 2 months, the deep redness has not gone away in the slightest, as per my initial intuition none of this has been “normal for body work” and a new electrologist I’ve seen a few days ago to get an opinion on this has confirmed that my skin is in fact burnt.

Continue to take photos to monitor healing, and you’ll notice improvement over time. The deep redness is simply hyperpigmentation. This is a very normal reaction to electrolysis and will always resolve with enough time, but it can take many months rather than just one or two.

I agree that scabs and hyperpigmentation are normal for body work. However the electrologist should be managing the treatment so that scabbing and hyperpigmentation are not excessive. I think that this level of reaction is a bit excessive one month post-treatment. Having said that, there is nothing here that raises any concerns around permanent scarring. Your skin will heal fine in the end.

I want to highlight that I described “raw skin”, “deep inflamed bumps” akin to cystic acne, “ingrown hairs” and showed red patches of skin more than a month after treatment, to which I was given the incorrect assessment that this is “normal and nothing to worry about”.

Had I listened to this, I would have gone back to the same electrologist that burnt me and be burnt again!
I’ve had one session with the skilled practitioner who correctly identified the burns and 2 weeks later everything is completely healed with none of the issues described above having occurred at any point of the healing process.

Some of the stuff that gets written off as “normal” and “just give it time” on here is absolutely not normal. Just leaving this here in case it saves another person’s skin some trouble.

It was me who gave that assessment, and from all the evidence you presented ( 1 picture) it still is what I see in the picture provided. In short, I stand by it. As you still have not posted any updated images of the healing, I dont see that you are going to get a different answer. when we cant see what you are seeing, however, given that this is another electrologist in your local market, had you considered that she may have talked badly about the work of her competitor for that reason? I didnt and STILL do not see anything wrong in the picture you showed. We also dont know anything of what energy, nor probe utilized. In fact we know almost nothing other than a partial picture that doesnt show any of the things you are talking about?

My update after 2+ months looks exactly the same as the picture I showed after 5 weeks.
I am not looking for a different answer in this forum, I already have the answer. I simply caution others on here that are being told certain things are normal and just need time on a regular basis - some things are not normal. For example blotches of red skin 5 weeks after treatment.

The new practitioner is not only not in the same “local area” but in an entirely different country, so not a “competitor” whatsoever. Her work healed in 2 weeks without leaving behind any burn marks. Meanwhile the skin treated by the other lady still looks like you see in the picture after 8 weeks. Go figure.
