Is this normal?!

Hi everyone! I just had my appointment with a new electrologist. I have always had great experiences with electrologists I’ve seen, within hours after appointments almost all signs of treatment are gone. I am able to shave and wear makeup the following day. I am having a different reaction to this last treatment. On the third day after treatment my chin is still swollen and numb. I also have scabbing everywhere. During my treatment, i heard a lot of popping sounds and felt a lot of plucking, which she said were the large hair bulbs being pulled through the follicle. Any advice on if this is normal would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The scabbing on the face ( this is much more rare n facial work) and popping sound dont sound good at all( possible too shallow insertions) and the plucking sensation would also be indicative. Do you have any pictures?

Thank you so much for your reply. This was about 24 hours after treatment. I looked like I had gotten a chin implant it was so swollen. 3 days later its not quite as swollen but it looks like there are dents in places on my chin.

This is today.

I also noticed that a lot of hair follicles that were treated on the neck and jawline still had the hairs in them.

4 separate places of plasma discharge, and just as client described, very visible scabbing, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say overtreatment. I’m going to grab some popcorn here and wait for someone to disagree with this opinion.Anyone?

On the upside, I’ve seen very significant reactions heal just fine, but this looks just as decribed.Watch for “whiteheads” that seem to join up with each other to make bigger whiteheads.

Pajax, I’m going to look for a thread from about a year ago by avito. I think you should compare pictures, so you can project after affects. Hang tight.

have a good read through this thread for lots of helpful advice:

It may also be helpful to review the 4 part presentation called “the healing skin” located here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxzAWBSrxvWhgLeL4nhS_w

Most of all, I’m noticing a distinct change in the 3 days post electrolysis. It may take a while, but the skin will heal, likely with no damage done. The swelling is inflamation, and will subside over time. The area of concern is the left side of the chin ( right side in the picture) but this too will heal perfectly given enough time. Use a different electrologist please. That “snapping” sound is not good news and indicated poor skill.

Thank you so much for your help. I will look over all of those. I definately have some whiteheads that are grouping together on the left side of chin. What do those indicate?

This will be revealed in the video series. See the section that talks about “macrophages”.

Okay I’m being a little bit deliberately vague, on purpose. The video series is made by a member here, and is probably the only publically avaialble resource that accurately describes the healing process of the skin. The most you can take from this, is an understanding of what the heck is going on, what is this inflamation you see, what has filled he follicles, why they will look like “red dots” after, but the underlyiing message is, that everythig will be FINE. The videos’s , just help you to conceptualize, and visualize, what the heck is going on. If I patted you on the back, saying all would be well, you probably would not believe me, but understanding the process of healing, and matching that up with what you are already seeing, will give you a better idea and confidence that this is the case. So review the series. For the most part, what the white heads are, is all the “debris” that is leftover after your treatment, bacteria, dead tissue, white blood cells, and yes, Macrophages. They will have a very thin layer of cells overtop of the follicle, closing all this in. I dont know that I could in any way describe the process any better however than the autor of these videos. What you need to know however, is that these are “wounds” and wounds to the skin can heal completely, and in the majority of cases, do exactly that , in a process that takes in its entirety , 18 months. So the overtreatment you recieved, is not the end of the world, the swelling and inflamation will go away, and the video series, represents what you can expect from that process.
