Is this normal?

Hi All,

I recently had my first electrolysis treatment. During my consult over the phone, the practitioner push laser even though I am a fair person with blonde hair. I still pushed for electrolysis and went for a treatment. The treatment went well. Not really painful at all. During the treatment time she took time out to take pictures she said should have been taken before. Also she trimmed down one side of hair. I think it was because she had not treated as much of it. After she finished, she further pushed laser (110 per treatment vs 65 for 45 mins of electrolysis ). Also stating it was going to be more expensive to do electrolysis. Further she said she is older and her back hurts if she goes too long. I was just left with the impression that she doesn’t want to do electrolysis with me. I love my results and am disheartened by this. I have been so self conscious of my facial hair for 10+ years.

Did you ask her why she was suggesting laser when you have blond hair?
Electrolysis will not be as expensive as laser in terms of results - you will pay for laser and get NO RESULTS if your hair color and structure is not ideal for laser reduction.

If her back hurts, seek another electrologist that doesn’t complain.

She said she thinks it will treat some of the dark blonde hair and then she could treat the blonde on the side. I just thought it was odd she was pushing laser. She pushed me to another place for it too.

Maybe she doesn’t like treating blond hairs because they are too numerous and too hard to see. Again, laser reduction won’t work for you.

Find an electrologist with a better set up who can see ANY hair structure. A good set up is vital and rates very close to the top with SKILL.

The thing with blonde hair, is it can be done, quite easily, with the right techniques in lighting via electrolysis.
Laser wont yield any results…period. I had a client just a day or two ago, completely grey, telling me she tied one of these “New supposed to work on blonde/ red hair” lasers, with zero results. Totally ripped off. IF she could get the money back spent on a service that was falsely advertised, she would be able to afford more electrolysis treatments, which she really does need.

BLonde hair requires side-lighting that is not “diffused” , but LED’s and halogen lights work fine across them. The light I use to accomplish this, even with my ancient 5 diopter loupe is a LED light powered by a usb battery pack shone accross the hairs which makes them “light up”…and costs…$1.00 ! and a dimly lit room. That’s it. I used to CURSE blonde and red hair, but this simple method taught to me by dee and others, years ago, works a treat, only requires the correct lighting.

As for referring you to other laser techs ( which would cost you with no results) and complaining she wouldnt be able to do it because of her back, these are excuses, that should be telling you to seek someone else.

It seems this practicionner doesn’t like doing electrolysis. If she can not perform the treatment, for some reasons (health problems for example) she could at least advice you an other practitioner.
Of course, performing a laser session is very easy, quick and… Well it worths for HER, but not for you.

I confirm you will not getting any results with laser in your case. Strange this practitioner pushed you to do that laser treatment…

Ok. Glad it’s not just me. 😊
