I am a female currently getting electrolysis on my chest area, since the beginning of the year. The hair is very fine and thin, but there is alot of it. The greatest density is the area between the breasts . Unfortunately, I have developed a darker patch of pigmentation here, due to my electrolysist initially using too high current, but she has since turned down the current and she is confident that the pigmentation will fade (I don’t experience any real side effects following treatment anymore - just a few pinprick scabs).
Anyway, my electrolysist has said that my focus should be on thinning areas that have hair and be happy with a reduction. I think she is trying to say that because the hair is so fine and thin that I will probably never be totally hair-free, but it can be thinned down nicely. She says that if we completely clear the dense hair (it’s fine and thin) in between the breasts, it will look strange as I will have a ‘bald patch’ on this area, but finer hairs remaining on the breasts.
To be honest, the idea of having any hair on this area is a bit depressing, as I want it all gone! Is this realistic? Or, should I be happy with thinning and bleach the rest, as the hairs are fine. If the hairs are very fine and thin, is it realistic to remove them all? I’m also wondering if she’s worried about the pigmentation patch getting worse, so she’s basically wants to avoid heavy work on the area?
Of course it is possible to remove ALL hairs. The Electrolysis can remove all hair, whatever the size, number and extent of the skin surface. No limitations, except the will and desire of the client.
If this is an excuse of your electrologist for not to work on fine hair, she or he should be honest and let you go as a client. It is not fair that you give up to fulfill your wishes.
Clear all the ‘bigger’ hair first and then move on the to the small, finer hairs.
I do get what she is saying. It’s down to your preference at the end of the day - to end having this area look about the same as your breasts or to remove all the hair, which will result in a noticeable difference between the breasts and the chest bone area. Probably making your breasts appear hairy.
Your hair pattern sounds exactly like mine. When I bleach my whole chest area, the hairs on the breasts are barely visible. If the area between my breasts ends up looking the same after electrolysis, I will be pleased.
Removing every single hair is realistic, but I understand what your electrologist is saying, too. If this were your face and you wanted every hair removed, I would say that I can’t promise you that.
I worked on a beautiful woman of Indian decent yesterday. We have been concentrating on her chest and breast areas and it is getting better and better. At first glance, it looked like she had a lot of hair, but as I studied the area with magnification, the hair density is much less than most facial cases. If she wanted every hair removed,I could promise her that I could remove every hair. I think she will be happy though with the the biggest hairs removed.
There is never too much hair for a modern electrologist with good skill, good strategy, a good setup and a motivated client. Well, almost never… I recall a man who must have had every follicle he was born with, actively working. That is where you hope that LASER can knock out the bulk of hairs and then finish up with electrolysis.
Everything is possible. It’s all a matter of how much time and effort you’re willing to put into it. I had most of my stomach treated, which is a pretty large area that had a lot of fine hair. I’m very happy with it now and haven’t touched it in years. It took about 2 years to finish, i.e. get it to the point where it looks completely natural and I don’t have to bleach or do anything else.
Even people with seemingly no hair have hair. It makes the skin softer. It’s just very fine and not noticeable except maybe in the sun. That was my goal. With a naked eye, it looks completely bare.
Yep, I’m thinking that she doesn’t want to work on the fine hairs, as maybe it’s too time consuming? I don’t really know?
Anyway, thanks for the feedback everyone! I need to talk to my electrolysist at my next appointment about my expectations. Whilst I understand that removing every hair is probably not realistic, I honestly wouldn’t be happy with having the amount of hair that I currently have! Otherwise, what’s the point of having electrolysis? I might as well stick to hair removal cream!!
Have you done all the ‘big’ hair yet or are you still working on it? She’s probably talking about after that. Keep working on clearance until you have reached a level of reduction that you feel satisfied with. There will be a lot of tiny, fine hairs mixed in with all the thicker longer stuff but they won’t be obvious yet.
There was a post by Josefa (depi) that demonstrated this very well with pictures of a female sideburn area.
There is nothing comparable to the Electrolysis. If you can see the hair, the electrologist can see the hair too, and he or she will be able to make them disappear.
Can you see the hair in these pictures? How many of them would you say there? 20? 50? 100? 300? 600?
(the skin was flushed by the application of Emla prior to treatment)
