Is it worth starting treatment?

Do you think it’s worth starting electrolysis if you know you will have to stop in 4 months?

yes. whywould you need to stop?

Doing electrology is like putting money in the bank. The hairs that are removed STAY removed forever. So, what you accomplish in 4-months cannot be taken away from you.

I’ve worked on clients that can only see me once per year … it still works just fine. “Staying on schedule” is better of course, but do what you have to do. Again … it’s like building a nice savings account.

I would need to stop because I’m going abroad for a job and will only be back once a year or something along those lines and I’ve looked into it: there are no reliable electrologists where I’m going and it’s taken me 4 years and over 10 electrologists here to finally find someone who I think is producing results (it’s only been 1 month though so really it’s hard to be 100% certain)

I’m curious what sort of state my hair will be in after 4 months of treatment. I’ve already been about 90% cleared of the hair I want gone and am going in every 2-3 weeks at this point.

Oh, 10 electrologists! Usually it takes between 3 - 5 to find “the right one!” But you are in the right State with some “hella” good electrologists!

Hey, Jules!

I’m in a similar situation: ongoing electrolysis and moving to another country in fall temporarily. I’ve actually asked on this board for referrals. There might be some recommendations in the referrals area of this board under “non-US” for Your destination country and if not yet, ask around! You might get a delightful surprise and even find out that there is a wonderful electrologist in wherever You are going;)

Jules if you are in cbus then there is only ONE elctrologist I would choose. Our very own Dee Fahey.

That said, quite a lot of progress can be made in 4 months. I’m currently working on a transgirl who started with a VERY thick dense beard. She’s been with me 3 months, and has seen about a 50 % reduction in that period, dedicating 2 hours a week. A TON can be accomplished in 4 months if you are dedicates and book enough hours. Definitely worth doing. There’s also a possibility you may be able to get someone just as good where you are travelling to to finish up. One thing is certain, if you do no electrolysis, you wont make any progress, and follicles that have been killed with electrolysis NEVER grow another hair. They are dead forever.Yes it’s true that other follicles can grow a hair if stimulated by androgens, but usually this is a much slower process than we remove the hair with. All around, the solution is very obvious.

I’m quoting this for extra emphasis.

If you only have 4 months, start now. It’s amazing how much progress can be made in that time.

If you start electrolysis and don’t completely finish, over time, the hair cycles will even out and you’ll look consistent. You won’t alternate between being bald part of the year and being hairy part of the year.

Any reduction in the total number of hairs you have will be permanent. It’s just going to take you much longer (in calendar time, not total treatment time) to be completely cleared.

Great feedback guys thank you so much!
Any thoughts on the best way to deal with the leftover hair as to not encourage more growth or distort the remaining hairs in case I want to continue this im the future? (Besides doing nothing…)

  1. do nothing
  2. do nothing
  3. clip the hairs
  4. shave the hairs
  5. wax the hairs … you can, but this screws up i.e., knowing what’s really there for future treatments.
