Is Cynosure Elite same as Cynosure apogee elite?

I am looking into this spa

http://www.vadaspa.com/home.php

they say they use cynosure elite laser. they get decent reviews on yelp for laser, although one person said it was extremely painful. is there anything i should ask specifically wehn i go in?

The price is incredibly reasonable. $150 for t-shirt line (back, neck, shoulders)

Yeah it would be the same. Cynosure makes great machines, they have the Elite which is an Alex/Yag and Elite MPX which is also Alex/Yag but has a larger 18mm spot size as well as dual mode where it fires alex/yag together.

It’s painful because it’s an alexandrite which is the best type of laser for skin types 1-3, but having the Yag allows it to treat all skin tones. It uses cold all chilling to cool the area. Laser isn’t pain free so you can’t choose a clinic based on whether it hurts!

  1. The goal with LHR is to permanently disable hair follicles. To do that, you need enough energy to cause sufficient damage to generative cells inside the follicles. It really is a case of “no pain, no gain.”

  2. Laser only works on coarse, dark hair. Do you have that in the areas you want to treat? Can you post a photo? Most people don’t have that on shoulders, and many don’t have that on back and neck as well. As such, these areas are very susceptible to induced growth. If you don’t have coarse, dark growth there, electrolysis is your only option.

  3. Price means nothing if they don’t know what they’re doing or use weak settings.

They constantly run specials via discounting sites. I would make sure they will use good settings. They seem like a numbers type of operation mostly concerned with getting people in and out to me. I wouldn’t pay for anything without knowing settings. I thought they used to use an IPL too. Maybe they got a new machine.

You also need to make sure all your hair is coarse enough to treat in order to avoid induced growth.

Please read our FAQs at the link below.

Effective treatments should be painful. If they’re not, settings are low.

Here’s a few photos i took. not easy to take pictures of your own back!

let me know what you guys think and where to go from here. Thanks!!

can i just tell them which setting to use if you guys advise me?

I agree with LaGirl on her comments regarding this facility.

Yelp seems to have good reviews for laser, especially with one specific tech, jennifer.

I can’t believe my hair wouldn’t be considered coarse enough to work effectively with laser. I feel like I’m as coarse as it gets, and i feel like my shoulder stragglers, while thinner in quantity are less thin than my chest hair

That hair is not very coarse. I wouldn’t risk laser on it because you’re not likely to get good results, but are likely to induce more growth.

I would recommend to go straight for electrolysis.

I think this spa writes some of their own reviews too from the pattern I’ve seen.

Well look, that’s why i came here. You guys are the experts. I did have one treatment on the whole t-shirt area about 2 years ago, and i thought it has helped reduce the amount of hair somewhat, but hard to know for sure.

If you say go for electrolosis, that’s what I’ll do.

Where do you recommend i go? I live in Hoboken and work all over Jerz. So basically anywhere in NJ or NYC area is a go for me. Keep in mind, i don’t have thousands to spend on this project right now

The best way to do electrolysis is to try to go for long sessions up front to get a full clearance. That way, you’ll only need to come in once a month or so to get another clearance and so on. You’ll have to do this about once a month for a year. If you can’t commit to this, you’ll likely need more hours overall because you won’t be treating hair in the first anagen phase of growth each time.

I recently discovered Absolutely Clear electrolysis in Manhattan around 13th Street and 6th Avenue. It’s very close to my house, so I got a couple touchups there with their good Apilus machine. Both ladies that work there are very good and their prices are reasonable for Manhattan. One of the ladies is actually often a speaker at conferences.

There are a bunch of others in Manhattan too, but I haven’t tried them. I tried two that I didn’t like. Arlene, who participates on this forum, is in Queens. Ihatebodyhair who posted above is in Jersey and has tried a few people around there.

You can go for consultations and see who you like best.
