Reading a lot of posts, ‘ipl is rubbish’ doesnt work, laser is best… by people i imagine have never used ipl, or a machine thats powerful enough. Im a male, had a lot of hair, thick coarse hair, and im pretty much hair free now, as long as the power settings are right up and its painfull it works
IPL is okay in my book. I actually paid for some treatments, the hair that I really wanted gone ceases to exist. But there were a lot of areas that were treated and the hair never died. I did electrolysis on those areas and IPL seemed to have helped ease the process, it takes far less treatments to get it done.
Okay Jangles … excellent. “good on 'yer.”
So, how long has “NOW” lasted for you?
I’d like to know too (about the longevity) as I’m going through it right now… 1 session in and the places the technician didn’t miss (lol) do seem different with respect to hair grown…
“Yes indeed” to your fine post “laserboy.” For me, I could care less about any “technology” and good (slick) advertising.
I’m ONLY inpressed if the system (any of them) is predictable … I mean ALL of it: how many treatments, how much $$$ will it cost, and is there a guarantee (or promise) of results. And, by results, what do you mean by “results.” (I don’t buy on-going never-ending treatments.)
For me, if it’s not permanent hair removal … i.e., you do their “protocol” … and then you don’t have hair any more; forever. A done deal, move on and forget about it and never look back.
If you are doing anything, electrolysis or “magic lantern,” what’s the point if you only get a “delay” in hair growth … or patches here and there. Or endless treatments.
I not just a skeptic about IPL/laser, I’m a skeptic about everything! Don’t “tell me!” Show me and prove it with a money-back guarantee. Then, I’ll start to get interested in your “shit.”
I am interested to know too on longevity. I have thought about purchasing a wowcher or groupon offer they all seem to be IPL and not laser.
I currently have a bikini wax once a month and well the IPL offers work out cheaper.
Even if it didn’t offer what full laser does anything is better than nothing if it comes in cheaper than waxing which is only a temp measure.
I only hesitate since I wouldn’t want it to cause more hair being indused.
I have read than 6 months to a year it all comes back with IPL where as some have been up to 10 years with laser.
I’ve had one session with the ELOS which is an IPL… also works for tattoo removal/skin rejuvenation… the setting used to was 30 (30 joules I’m guessing?)
it’s been a month since my 1st session and I can see half of the hair on one armpit hasn’t grown in yet… the other armpit seems to have missed a few spots I would say 70% grew back in
lower arms, chest, and stomach… there are patches which have been missed (gosh my next session is in two days I’m gonna tell her to be much more careful!)and those grew back normally… the areas that did shed… eventually grew back but I’m seeing less dark and course growth compared to areas near it that weren’t touched at all.
This is of course after the first session only… I’m wondering if things will get more permanent post 5-6 sessions.
Treatments here and there over the last 3 years, more or less hair free, hairs appear here and there, new hairs i imagine. Ive been to 4 diff places, had laser twice about 8years ago, pain was serious, but worked. Had ipl at a place and the machine just lacked the power, hairs never shed, however all other treatments were pretty painful, hair all shed and didnt come back, i always get it done on the highest or near highest setting, as i believe this is crucial to destroying the hair. Ive got pale skin and dark thick hair so im a pretty good candidate. Id recommend ipl,not a home machine, or a low power setting when you do go, get a good clinic like no vello with a powerful machine, make sure its at the near highest setting and if its going to work for you it will. Its cheaper than laser, so anyone that runs a clinic with a laser is feeling the pressure and slating it as a result
No vello run a 60joule machine, i cant do it on the highest setting, but if you can take the pain it would be very effective. 10 sessions of ipl, can get em cheap on groupon, should see 90% of the hair gone, unless the person has some condition where its inneffective and then i doubt anything would work, make sure they zap everu square inch as some of them like to skip areas, hence the patchy regrowth
My session is tomorrow I’ll tell her to raise the settings and not miss spots! fingers crossed it works hair is my only insecurity :s
