At least a few times a day, I open up a sterile hyperdermic needle and begin the process of extracting an ingwn hair from a client. Almost always tis is from having plucked or waxed or threaded previously and I find debris from the previous hair blocking the hair from exiting the follicle properly. I admonish each of my clients to forever give up plucking, and often I find the frequency of ingrowns reduced or eliminated as time goes on.Over time I’ve really appreaciated Josepha’s ingrown extraction videos, its taught me a lot about how to do it properly with the least disruption to the skin.
So this past Saturday a client came to me, a new client who had purchased one of my groupon deals. We treated different areas over her treatment finishing with some hairs above the bikini area. She had waxed this area years ago.I cleaned up a few hairs above the panty line and along the way noted an extremely inflamed area. I asked the client about it and she advised me it had become infected several times over the last couple years and in a permanant state of inflamation. I’m looking at the “pore” and I note something black just visible underneath. I asked if I could try an extraction, she honestyy didnt think it was a hair but I was welcome to try.At first my hyperdermic was unable to get under the hair, I wiped the area to clear the view and neatly popped out a loop of hair.As I started to extract it it got longer and longer and I brought it to the clients attention.I should have grabbed a camera and started filing had I known what was about to occur. As she watched I pulled at least 7 full inches of hair out of the follicle. By and large, the most rewarding hair extraction to date. The client was equally amazed. I finished off by putting several pulses on synchro, then switching to omniblend and putting as much heated lye into the follicle as I could possibly . Finished up with a healthy dose of pure teatree oil on the area afterwards.
Equally as amazing, this hair still had a full anogen hair root. It was still growing and came out with a fully intaact sheath and root. She must have had an extremely long anogen hair cycle to have attained this and still be in anogen phase of growth.
One extremely happy client with an amazed look on her face, this thing had been causing her discomfort for years. IT looks like I’ll be treating her for some time to come.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Josepha M Reina for her tireless effort to educate both consumers and professionals over a spectacular career. It is her skill that has provided me with the necessary knowledge and confidence to remove these nasty beasts.
I’m going to have some new pictures to share shortly of my wonderful newly renovated office. I’ve just spent the last 5 days conducting workmen and putting up a partition and doorway , and laying beutiful solid oak hardwood flooring throughout my suite of offices. Banished forever is the ugly grey-black carpet. Renovations are almost complete, and within the next few days the finishing touches are being put on. It’s going to be a wonderful space to work from, and I’m hoping to attract an apprentice or partner this year to share the client load as things are growing quite quickly, and this beutiful space to work from will help with that.I will have the best appointed clinic within this city.
