Inflammation & spots

Hello hello,

After even 10 minutes of electrolysis work on my face, my skin gets inflamed and ends up with giant rock-hard spots with whiteheads. It’s not the typical reaction I get elsewhere. Has anyone had to have antibiotics to treat this and did it solve the problem in the long run?

I’m not sure whether to go to my GP whilst I have normal skin in preparation for my next electrolsysis treatment. I imagine their response will be to come back when I look like I’ve been stung by a nest of bees.

Histamine response maybe? Would your skin benefit from an anti-histamine? Benadryl?

Hmmm…whiteheads? A little too much timing/intensity, maybe? Do these show up in 10 minutes or the next day?

It is instantaneous, but it’s different from my usual histamine response on other areas. Its also solely on my cheeks (anywhere else on my face is fine), where I’m prone to bad skin. It also has happened at both electrolysis places. Someone who had hair removal on her face suggested it might be folliculitis after she had it and had to take antibiotics for it.

Folliculitis would not show up instantaneously.

Real whiteheads can’t show up that fast, either. I think that it’s occurring because of your oily (bad) skin. Have you tried benadryl? It would dry you out a bit and reduce swelling (stung by a nest of bees)…

You have told your electrologist of the reaction, right? You have allowed him/her to see this reaction, right? Important to us. You see, verbal descriptions don’t always equal visual observations.

What is your general healing like? If it tends to be slow, you could have a zinc deficiency. The rapidity of your reaction is unusual.
