induced hairs?

Just wondering:
when the hair-free skin comes in contact with laser, does it always induce new hairs? Does it happen with just IPL machines, or any laser in general?

I didn’t have hairs on my cheeks before starting my LHR. But now, I can see some new hair growth there.

It can happen with any treatment, Laser or IPL.

It doesn’t always induce. However, over the years I am hearing more and more reports of this. From people who join this forum because of it, to new clients seeing my electrologist, to people I know personally.

This happens with any machine ONLY when the hair is too fine. Only coarse dense growth should be treated with laser.

LAgirl - what about skin close to the area treated with coarse, dense growth?

For example, some women have very coarse sideburn hairs and when they have them treated with Laser (effectively), they notice new growth on the cheeks.

And what about legs? My lower half have a few coarse hairs which you mentioned will give good reuslts but my thighs I have no idea. Can I not just try a reduction?

StoppIt, I think that has more to do with the fact that it’s impossible sometimes to not touch areas without much hair that border the areas with coarse hair. Basically, the cause is touching areas with no hair, vellus hair, fine hair, etc. If laser has something else to touch besides the coarse hair, then it can induce those follicles to produce new hair.

I’ve never seen reports of induced hair on the legs. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. I always say better safe than sorry and only treat coarse dense hair.

Hmm yes I understand the cause. I was just clarifying that even when you are having coarse, dense hair treated neighbouring areas that are heated to some extent can also get induced growth.

I believe this is only noted in ‘male hair pattern’ areas - face, shoulders, upper arms?

This is why when anyone asks me about Laser on the face, even if they insist they are going to treat an area with coarse hair, I tell them they would be better off with electrolysis.
