I recently started doing electrolysis a few months ago on my lower arms. About 1-1.5 months ago, I also had some electrolysis done on my face to get rid of some blonde hairs, particularly around the mouth. I am doing the Blend method. Just tonight, I noticed I have a slight indentation beneath my left lower lip near the chin area. I have very sensitive skin. I think this may be from electrolysis. Does anyone know if this indentation will go away in time? Is this normal?
Pictures would be helpful. It’s kind of like saying “i have a rash on my skin that’s not normal, can you guys tell me what this is?”
Quality picture needed, please. Hopefully, you have a before picture of the area.
I’ve stated it before, but I doubt that people take before pictures because they’re simply not in the mindset of “hey, what if something goes wrong”. Once an area has been treated the patient will begin to comb-over the treated area and observe micro flaws in their skin that may/may not have been there before. any picture would be helpful in determining any potential damage, just snap one right now and upload it!
That being said, I can identify with concerns over the face because it’s one of the first things that other people observe about you. To this day, performing DIY I haven’t noticed a single depression or hyper pigmentation practicing on myself, and I wouldn’t consider myself highly skilled either
I don’t have a picture. But I definitely know this indentation was not there before as I have flawless skin.
Many people research here on Hairtell before they start their hair removal journey, so, hopefully by mentioning just the idea of taking quality before pictures, it may prove to be very useful at some point.
I believe what you are saying norcal, but I don’t know what it looks like. Are you going to submit a picture? If you can’t, I will have to assume you will heal with time. Most everybody does! Talk to your electrologist, okay?
I have indentation scars too from treatments over a year ago. Some look like open tiny holes and one is like an oval shaped pit. Not good. My skin texture in one area has changed too( mid cheek ). I don’t think they are as noticeable as they were, but they are still there. I am honestly probably the only one who sees them. I was told retin a can help or a strong peel. I just gave mine time and I eat healthy and use pure oils on my face. I also stopped looking for them at different angles in various mirrors:). It’s a bummer bc I always had such great skin. All I was trying to do was remove some longer vellus hairs!
I like your response Michk because it might speak to other clients. I would add: vellus hairs should probably not be removed. If you can’t see them, don’t zap them!
If you DO want this done, seek out somebody (like our own Dee Dee) who is an expert in doing this highly skilled work. Indeed, magnification like the Hubble telescope is imperative, but even that is not a guarantee of ending up with skin so flawless you won’t be able to scrutinize the hell out of it and “find something.”
I was left with a tiny red mark like a dot on my upper lip left side after first upper lip treatment I’ve been having chin and around nipples for 8 months no issues on my recent treatment 2nd one she just told me to give it time to heal and that she would need to use a smaller needle which she did this time and redness was gone by the time I’d driven back home 30 mins actually collected the kids from school hour after and no one would have been the wiser, I don’t think anyone but me can see the red spot but mentioned it cos I didn’t want it to happen again. If you have been marked there must be a reason for it too high treatment or needle size?? mentioned it to the electrolysis so that they can make adjustments and avoid any further damage fingers crossed.
p.s I’m used pure aloe vera and organic rosip oil at night to minimize any marks/scars I tend to alternate which ever I find first when I open the draw lol.
I’ve heard that some people use one of these telescopes and still have trouble getting easy release with an intermediate hair.
There will come a time when I can not see those tiny blond hairs which worries some women (probably sooner than I’d like). When this happens, I want to be able to recognize my own limitations, but I will never do say that these hairs are impossible to be treated with Electrolysis.
Jossie, you always make me laugh. And you’re right.
You might be using a scope and have the cross-hairs on your target, but if you don’t have a bullet in the chamber you aren’t going to do much damage!
It “all” has to come together at one time.
Laugh? hopefully, but do not think so, though believe me, I try hard. Laughter is the best therapy in the world to ex-patients. Damn, Follizap! where have you been?
I think this, in turn, could make you mourn. These are microscopic hairs on the forehead of a young woman. As you can see, the bullets are small in size, but are still highly lethal.

The indentation has gotten better in that past week, so maybe it just needed time to heal. I used a loofah on the area, and I have also been putting on Mederma.
Do NOT use a loofah on your face! That kind of harsh abrasive isn’t necessary and can lead to skin damage and hyperpigmentation. This is especially the case when your skin is already healing from trauma, as it is after electrolysis. In general, over the counter “scrubs” and abrasives aren’t necessary and can do much more harm than good.
Well, oh YEAH!
I’m building an aluminum lamp at the moment and I have to remove a few tiny “dings.” I will be sanding these out and then polishing. Your skin is NOT like that!!! You can’t sand-out the indentations. WeRNot is right.
