In Search of Electrologist for Marathon Sessions- Full Arm Paradoxical Hypertrichosis :( ***WITH PICTURES

Hello Friends,

I have been meaning to write about this for several months now, but have been avoiding it. My mental health has been up and down throughout all of this.

I have had maybe around 15 sessions of laser on my arms, and now I am stuck with thick hairs from my shoulders to my finger tips. I have lost my trust in the laser industry, I and have been learning how to live with paradoxical hypertrichosis.

Not only my arms, but my face and buttocks. I started electrolysis on my face over 1 year ago and have seen great progress (my whole face and neck are being cleared in 1.5hrs now!). Unfortunately, now I have to figure out what to do with my arms and buttocks (mainly focusing on my arms right now).

I am hoping to find someone who does marathon sessions to fully clear the large areas. I am located in Alberta, Canada and would at least prefer to stay within Canada. I have heard about the 3 clearance method and it sounds promising. I have not pulled the hair on my arms since ~March 2025, and have not pulled the hairs on my buttocks for over a year now-- only shaving as needed. If there is any other advice-- I am open to hearing it as well
.

I think you will have difficulties finding any one person who can do really long sessions. It is physically demanding work. Perhaps a clinic with multiple practitioners? I’m 14 hours in on my arms right now and haven’t managed a full clearance yet. (Male, previously failed laser treatment) I estimate 20 hours for my first full clearance.

If you can’t find a provider to do marathon sessions, don’t stress. This looks like a very easy job, and a skilled electrologist working with flash thermolysis would be able to knock out a huge area in just an hour of work. If both you and your electrologist can commit to 1-2 hours every week, you should be able to clear both arms within a 3 month period and follow a 3 clearance treatment plan.

Ask if your current electrologist can also treat your arms. If not, speak with some other providers. It looks like there are plenty to choose from in Alberta.

I do some longer session electrolysis but I’m in process of moving my practise this spring from Ottawa to Moncton New Brunswick. I’m still taking clients until march however here in Ottawa . I do know some electrologists in BC and alberta some of whom may be able to help. I’d try Kim Gerry out of BC or emailing Karen Dykstra at Swansons Institute to see if she might have recommendation [email protected] . I do have another electrologist I can team up with if that is what you are wanting. It’s quite a way from Alberta to Ottawa though.
