I'm so confused.

Hi everyone. I’m a 19 year old transgendered male. I’ve been doing a lot of research about permanent hair removal and I’m frustrated because it seems like I’d be a good candidate for laser treatments since I have fair skin and dark hair (I pretty much have a shadow 24/7) but I’ve read it may not be as good as electrolysis, which I wouldn’t mind doing.

The thing is, I can’t understand which one is worth pursuing. I don’t mind the costs or time, I just don’t want a beard anymore. Some have had great success on the face with lasers while others have said it’s not good.

I haven’t had any consultations with anyone because I don’t know exactly where to go. Every place near me is at least an hour away and I’m afraid of going and wasting my time on a clinic that does not care about me, only money.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m wanting to go on this journey to feel better about myself, but I feel lost because I don’t know where to start. I’m the kind of person who wants to make sure they’re getting the best they can. I’ve looked at countless searches for practices in Indiana and websites about the different procedures but I feel conflicted.

Sorry if this isn’t the place to post this, I’m just so confused.

Hi Jonica:

I did 9 sessions with laser and then switched to electrolysis.
The laser did help somewhat, but wasn’t enough on its own for my purposes.

After the 9 laser sessions I had 150 hours total of electrolysis and now just have a few sparsely scattered hairs to clean up now and then. I don’t have to shave, no shadow, no problem. I don’t need any foundation, since my skin is so clear.

In your situation, it is definitely beneficial to start with laser, get as much as you can out of it (probably 10 treatments or so) and then switch to electrolysis to finish up. Laser will great rid of your shadow already.

Yes, the laser sounds good. I have looked up an electrologist in Indianapolis that deals with transgendered but I keep hearing about all these laser centers robbing people or something and I’m a bit worried about finding a good one.
