Hello i have a coupple of questions for you guys .I hope you understand this all because my english is bad .
I own a small beauty salon in europe and use a ipl machine with bad results for hair removal .
I am searching for a second hand gentlelase because i have read here that this is a very good laser .
I am on a tied budget and find this one :
Now my question is : do you guys think this is a good gentlelase to begin with ? http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/1999-Candela-GentleLASE-Laser-Hair-Removal_W0QQitemZ260238854698QQihZ016QQcategoryZ11816QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It has around 500 k pulses , is it possible for use that laser for a couple of years ? I do not use it all the time because hair removal is not the only thing i do in my salon.
Also it doesent have a 18mm spotsize , is this a problem ?
Thank you
This is an " ANTIQUE " gentlelase. It probably has 500 K pulses since the head was changed. The problem is that you should check them out before buying them. They use a different slider than the newer GL’s and GL + . If the head is bad and the output is low, it may cost you some money to repair it. Having said that, these older Gentlelase’s were more reliable than the newer models.
You should really have someone look at this before buying. If it was in NYC I would help you but Austin is a little far.
SSLHR is in Texas. Send him a PM. He may be able to point you to where to find a good used machine. You may also want to check out London.
Thanks Romeo for the info .
I now that checking the laser out before buying it is the best thing to do , but America is to far for me because i have a business to run and do not have that much time .
London is an option but i can’t find any websites with used lasers in the UK or in the rest of Europe .
Thanks for helping
That machine is going to provide better results than your IPL but there are two major issues. First, I have trouble believing that it only has 500,000 pulses on it. That would mean that they only put 70,000 pulses on that machine a year. That’s hard to believe.
Second, the older a laser gets the more it will tend to break down. Even if it is barely used. The components are breaking down. So if you had to replace the power supply, it would cost you about $6 to $15K assuming you could find the part. If you want Candela to fix it, it is going to cost more. The pump chamber can be quite expensive.
It is much like a new car versus an old car. New cars don’t have as many problems as old cars. And we are speaking here of a very old car. 1999 is an antique in the world of hair removal lasers.
Thanks for the info .
I think i better save some more money to buy a newer machine .
