I think I wasted money on 5 sessions. HELP

OK. I totally didn’t know that all your hairs are supposed to shed…even if the hair follical isn’t killed. I thought SOME hairs were supposed to shed…but I didn’t think all were.

I have never been virtually hair free due to shedding in between treatments on my legs. some hairs definately do shed but not all of them. I have experienced hair reduction. but some hairs just don’t fall out.

are they just not that good where I’m going? should I go back to the lady I used to go to? (she did my chest and abdomin with IPL and I am completely hair free there. It’s a dream)

I thought since there are just so much hair folicals on the leg and some are under the skin…that not ALL of them shed.

Please help me. I don’t know if I should go back and waste more money. My hair does grow a lot slower but I am still not satisfied. I still feel like I have to shave everyday. Even though I get a smoother result)

You mentioned that you got IPL. Perhaps you would see better results with a laser or electrolysis to finish the job

I already had 4 treatments with laser and 1 with ipl on legs

Laser and IPL work differently, laser suppose to kill the hair while IPL makes in thinner every time.

From my experience, if you do IPL treatment to someone and then laser on the same place, the hair wont shed, but if you then shave it you will see it grows back much slower if at all.

Also, the more IPL treatments you do and the thinner the hair becomes, the harder it is for other machine to target the hair and kill it.

Interesting. Does if not shed because the IPL makes it so fine that the laser won’t pick up the pigment and make it fall out(shed)?

Maybe the lady I went to before who IPLed my abdomen and chest used a better machine than this place. Because I am either hair free or the hair is so fine and light and vellus-like that I don’t even see it.

I’m not sure why it doesn’t shed but we have clients who used IPL and then switched to the Soprano XL which is diode and i think none of them shed anymore. But, if after treatment you shave the hair most of it wont grow back and after every treatment you will see even less regrowth.

With IPL they try to develop machines which gives less energy and still does the job so many IPL machines wont get you any results but i can’t say i know a lot of IPL machines so it’s possible some (probably painful ones) do get the job done.

Laser and IPLs only work on coarse dense hair. If you’re not seeing shedding and results, it’s a matter of inappropriate settings.

Diode is a good laser. But it’s only good in good hands. Odi, if you’re not seeing results with a diode, you need to do training on settings the settings properly and operating the machine in the right way.

I didn’t quite say that, i said we aren’t seeing shedding for people who used IPL before diode BUT we still see great results.

that doesn’t make sense. what they used before has no impact on present results or shedding. it’s all about settings and using the appropriate machine for each skin type. if they didn’t see results before, it was mostly due to inexperience. if they see results now, it’s mostly due to experience, i.e. correct usage of the machine no matter what machine it is.

They didn’t see results because it was a crappy IPL machine. They see results now because it’s a true diode laser and does the job really well.

I understand what you’re saying but that is what we are seeing on people AND after talking with other clinics who use the Soprano XL they also say the same thing.

Crappy or not crappy, it should still produce some shedding if settings are high enough. Yes, IPLs are not great for hair removal, but they’re not 100% useless either as you imply. What machine did you use btw? You never indicated.

Alma Laser’s Aria SHR, it is a model that exists in Europe and not in North America, they now have a newer models in North America only slightly modified with different name. The closest one they have is called Spa SHR.

BTW, with the Aria people did see shedding, but it all returned, only thinner.

Ok, well at least you admit that the machine IS capable of causing shedding. That would also mean that you admit that you weren’t using it in the best way possible since the manufacturer was able to get shedding out of the treatments and you weren’t.

Yes, I agree that most IPLs don’t produce permanent results, but only a temporary disturbance to the hair. But I was just clarifying the shedding point since you suggested that not getting it had to do with the machine 100% and not in part the settings.

No, I said that i did get shedding with the Aria, lots of it.
And what i also said was that people who were treated with the Aria or and other IPL prior to the Soprano, saw no shedding of the hair.
And last thing i said was that we had great results from the Soprano even without shedding, the hair simply stopped growing.

And yes, the Aria just wasn’t powerful enough.

Your post was confusing. Now it’s clearing up. What you wrote before made it sound like when YOU used an IPL, you didn’t see results, but when YOU started using a diode, you did. It seems that what you’re actually saying is that your patients didn’t see results with OTHER clinics who used IPLs on them. So obviously you realize that those other clinics you mention didn’t know how to use their IPL since even a bad IPL should affect the hair at least somehow IF used properly. That’s the main point here.

Shedding is almost always present, definitely when treating coarse hair. For finer hair, especially on areas like the legs, the hair stays as pepperspots for a bit longer and doesn’t grow at all. Although, I don’t know how you are judging whether the hair is not growing when you’re treating patients at 6 weeks. You’re not letting the hair fully show itself when you treat that early. So your conclusions about the results and how much is removed each time are likely not in line with reality 100%. Try giving it the appropriate 8-12 weeks and let us know how much is removed.
