I need help with Blend using an Apilus Junior.

I have been trying to learn blend on my Apilus Junior (1st Generation) but I’m having a difficult time getting hairs to release properly. I do well with Flash Thermolysis and Galvanic. I have been having great results on my chest using flash at 1/15 and 95% intensity. The hairs slide out of the follicle nicely but when using blend I am having no luck. I am plucking the hair every time. I have tried both pulsed blend and omniblend.

I am using ballet stainless probes in F2 and F3 for blend and I’m using Sterex insulated 2 piece needles for Flash.

Any help would be appreciated. My intention is to use blend on my upper lip and chin once my skill level increases. These areas have been the most stubborn for me despite having been treated with both electrolysis and Laser. I still get regrowth after having 8 sessions of Laser using a Candela Gentlelase and my upper lip and chin have been cleared 5-6 times using an Apilus Platinum Pure using pico flash and Pro-tec insulated probes.

Any help would be appreciated. I have been reading Bono’s Blend book as well as several others. What settings would you recommend to start?

Thanks Anne

At virtually every seminar I’ve done, I was asked to use the Dectro machines to do the blend (manual “classic” mode). I suppose the Apilus might be different, but in my opinion, you would be better-off sticking to the thermolysis side of the Dectro units.

I think that these units are stunning, but primarily designed from the “thermolysis” side of the equation. If you really want to do manual blend and follow my book, you should purchase a fully manual machine with no microprocessor programs (just two dials and two footswitches and one meter … that’s it!).

(Indeed, even the simplest manual electrolysis units (the “Classic”) ARE microprocessor controlled, but still work fully in the manual mode.) I use the most simple (and cheap) Hinkel unit made: the “Classic.” Do I get results? Well, you can be the judge of that.

(I also have a closet filled with all kinds of electrolysis machines: many with computer controls. I use the manual one.)

Michael thank you for the reply and thank you for writing such a good book. I am really enjoying it. I worked on myself last night for a while and had better success using pulsed blend. I used a #5 Ballet probe whereas I was using a #3 before and extended the timing to around 20 seconds. I am finally getting the hairs to release properly.

Down the road I may purchase an additional machine. I cannot justify it right now though.

Thanks,

Anne
