I just really don't know what to do

I think after five sessions I’d see improvements on more than just little patches on my legs.

I have a FEW places where my legs are bare and smooth as glass. The rest of the hair still grows. It’s still dark to where I can see it under my skin and I still have to shave everyday.

I’m beginning to think the technicians just aren’t skilled. A different technician does it each time. I guess it’s whoever is available when you schedule your appointment. The last one who did my legs was only 23.

There is some improvement, just really not enough to justify paying $319 a session.

I’ve mentioned getting IPL on my chest and abdomen from another technician at a dermatologist’s office and having amazing results.

On my legs (at this other med spa type place)they used the lowest settings for the first two sessions. For the third and fourth sessions they moved it up two settings. On my fifth session they used IPL because another client was in the room with the diode laser (is that unprofessional of them?).

Should I go a few more sessions and see how it goes? How many more?

Should I just stop wasting my money?

I’m really at a loss. I’m thinking of just getting waxed. At least with waxing you have at least a month of being hair free. Right now I’m never hair free. I just have hair free spots.

What settings were used? And what machine?

Also yes, I would absolutely not accept IPL instead of laser! If you’re paying that much it hsould be clear which machine is used on you.

At what intervals do you go?

Although training is important, I don’t think age is important…with laser it is relatively simple compared with some other treatments like electrolysis (sorry laser techs!) The most important things are correct settings and also getting every area treated

I go every 4 weeks.

I’m not sure what machine the laser was but the IPL machine was called elight. something like that.

I guess I’ll go one more time and find out the names of the machines and the exact settings.

and you’re sure IPL is not good? I don’t know why the last place I went to that used IPL worked WONDERS on my chest and abdomen

Usually the problem with IPL is that they are much weaker than laser, but giving an IPL enough power it may get you results.
Also, i have heard before that for some people laser works best and for other IPL is better. From my experience with various IPL machines, you can’t compare the two, I’ve seen very poor results with IPL while only great results with diode laser. It could be that i didn’t see enough people but it doesn’t take a genius to notice the difference.

This may clarify the difference between laser and IPL to you

IPLs are not as effective as true lasers. But in good hands, they should still work on COARSE DENSE hair. Sounds like you’re going to a clinic who doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Going every 4 weeks is useless. They’re just draining you off money. Legs have long hair cycles. You shouldn’t need to go more often than once every 10-12 weeks for this area if treatments are effective. It’s not about just treating the area. You need to see shedding within 2-3 weeks or at least hair not growing AT ALL for several weeks after the treatment and remain as pepperspots.
