I had 6 treatments at a local place that does laser hair removal. I had a treatment every 2 weeks and it lasted only like 15 mins. It did hurt a bit but not much and I have yet to see any hair “fallout” or any hair missing at all. I am a guy and I just don’t want to shave anymore due to ingrown hairs. I am also very white and my hair is dark brown so that shouldn’t matter. I don’t know what laser they used either.
Please read the FAQ on laser treatments.
Treatments have to be spaced out 8-12 wks depending on body area.
Every 2 weeks aren’t real treatments. You basically had maybe 2 treatments and the rest were what we call touchups. Hair grows in cycles and can’t grow that fast.
It takes 3 weeks for the hair to fall out. It sounds like you never let it happen.
It’s also impossible to tell whether you had decent treatments without knowing specific machine used and settings. Can you find those out?
I found out the machine is a Mediostar XT but I don’t know the settings.
It should be a diode laser - so could work if they would know how to use it.
BUT if they did the treatments every 2 weeks, the clinic where you go just wants to rip you off… They dont know how to use the machine, they like the clients to go as often and as long time period as it is possible - they will reassure you that everything is going fine and that youre allmost there, but you wont get what youre looking for…
I wouldnt go there if I were you.
And you wrote you have dark brown hair - laser needs BLACK hair, brown is not enough…
I have read that it works with dark course growth which this counts as.
They offered me 6 more free treatments since I didn’t see any results from the first 6 I purchased and they are set every 6 weeks.
If it’s dark, coarse and dense, it should work at good settings. You need to wait 3 weeks after each treatment and make sure treated hair sheds. If it doesn’t shed, nothing happened and hair wasn’t affected.
If you didnt see any results with the first 6, do you think you will see them with the next 6?
I doubt, I would bet they dont know which settings to use and it is very sad - how can someone who gets a training and a licence not to be able to set a proper J/mm2 setting??! Its crazy how easy is to operate the epilation laser and how many people dont know how to do it…Its a mystery to me!
I Went back for the retreatment on Friday June 17th and it went well. It hurt a bit more and the machine was freshly serviced apparently. The lady also did it slightly differently and alot faster. Today in the shower I scratched my neck and I guess I had fallout??? because I had a few hairs under my nails. Is this what that it is? I normally shave so I guess I could be missing fallout.
It looks like you have tried for a long time to get rid of your hair so the same question can be posed to you. I’ll give them a chance. The staff seems to care about customer satisfaction.
If the hair is not coarse enough, it doesn’t really matter how nice the staff is and how much they care. The laser device doesn’t work based on those things
Can you post photos? Miro thought his hair was coarse enough. Then he posted photos here and we told him it wasn’t. He’s trying to help you avoid wasting your money.
^I believe Miro is having electrolysis now.
It is very course/rough and as dark brown as you can get before being black. I am noticing lots of hair coming out anytime I scratch my neck. I won’t be wasting money with these 6 treatments since I already paid for the 6 I had done and they are giving me 6 more free.
The hair on my upper lip is not as dark but is very course/ rough. To the point of pain when shaving because the razor pulls the hair each time there.
I am also very pale and burn if I don’t use sun screen tho I will get slightly less white on my arms and neck if working outside a lot.
I can post 3 pix and link to others but I don’t want to flood. This is a couple days of not shaving and I guess it is different lengths because of some falling out? I also am keeping the goatee since it is about the only place I don’t get ingrown hairs. here are the full size ones: http://imageshack.us/g/807/img0818p.jpg/
That hair is coarse. I didn’t see you mention that you’re treating your face, which makes a difference because the density of growth there is high. Also, upper lip may need deeper penetration to get all the hair. Also, good overlapping and shedding is very important in order to avoid patchy results on this area. Make sure to go in for a touchup at 3 weeks to get whatever hair is still there at that point to avoid risking patchy results.
