I live in rural Missouri and need recommendations on a good electrologist or even laser hair removal. The only Missouri recs I see on this website are either in St. Louis or Kansas City. I’m desperate. Please help me.
What area are you looking to treat? What type of skin and hair do you have on that area? Where exactly are you located and what cities are closest? What sites have you used to find specialists?
I need to treat my jaw line and stomach. I’ve searched sites but I have come to find that everyone that does electrolysis and laser are not on all website directories. The closest hair removal place I found was 2 hours away and they are charging me 3 times the amount that I was paying for hair removal. I was getting laser removal close to my town but the office sold their machines due to low profit. I was hoping by some chance someone knew of someone in rural Missouri that does hair removal at an affordable price. I’ve learned that a lot of places over charge.
What do you consider overcharging for electrolysis services?
I don’t know of anyone to recommend. Did you peruse the Missouri referral forum yet? http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/96/1/Missouri.html
Or try the American Electrology Asssociation website:

I’m not sure, but poster “Chuck” might have seen someone in Missouri. You can private message him if you’d like.

I don’t know where this new posted baby came from, but almost everything he/she posted is a chain clinic for laser/IPL (especially since they’re apprently using this forum for advertising). I would urge you to avoid them at all costs, or at least compare to other non-chain clinics, a conclusion you will probably come to after reading feedback from those who went there on this forum.
What you need to do is research what type of hair removal you need for YOUR needs. Laser is best for areas with dense coarse hair. If you have finer hair, you need electrolysis.
You really shouldn’t be picking a clinic based on price. That way, you can end up spending a lot more in both money and time because there are many people out there who will take your money, but don’t actually know what they’re doing.
You will find lots of helpful links on this forum to find both electrologists and laser clinics. But first, you need to decide which is best for your needs.
Both of these are in St Louis:
for laser, including full body, The Youthful Body. Tanya is excellent.
for electrolysis, Electrolysis, Etc. Sunyatta is gentle and through.
I found a combination of laser and electrolysis gives complete satisfaction, although it takes 18 months or so.
Good luck.
Can you be more specific than “rural” Missouri?
Thanks everyone for all the help and information.
lagirl, i have coarse hair on my jawline and chin. would electroylsis or laser be the best method for the jawline and chin?
choice i’m located in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Again, thanks everyone for the help. Having this unwanted hair is so frustrating.

A little closer, 90 mins. There are several that are 2 hours.
Many electrologists in rural areas don’t advertise, they depend on word of mouth. I would call physicians, not just dermatologists, hair salons, chamber of commerce, women’s groups, etc.
Arkansas electrologists are licensed by the state cosmetology board. Contact the board, there may be someone closer to the state line.
There used to be an electrolysis school in St. Louis, so I would think there woud have to be some hidden electrologists in your area.
I would advise you to get electrolysis on your jawline and chin, so do you homework about practitioners before you leap forward to get rid of this hair.
Thanks everyone.
Sailor, how much do they charge? When I was in St. Louis I went to the American Laser Centers and they gave me a package deal that was SO over priced. I could’ve gotten a nose job for the prices they wanted to charge me. I found someone close to my hometown that only charged me $75 per treatment (for jawline, chin, and body). Unfortunately they went out of business. Anyway if you could tell me how much Tanya and Electrolysis, Etc. charge I’d be grateful.
