Hyperpigmentation - please help!

So I’ve had three treatments now on my lip, chin and cheeks. I was tweezing daily before starting electrolysis and I have pigmentation on my upper lip from it - a lovely dark moustache, even when there’s no hair. I’m terrified this might be permanent. I stopped tweezing for three weeks before I went for my first treatment, and even then I still had some redness on the right side of my lip, where I was doing the most damage. I’m pretty fair-skinned, maybe a type II.

Now that I’ve started electrolysis, I’m getting pigmentation from that, red dots that last a long time after the initial swelling and redness and whiteheads are gone, on every area that’s been treated. My electrologist says that my skin’s very sensitive and the hair’s really tough, so it’s a bad combination. At first she recommended that I come in weekly to start off, but after seeing that my skin isn’t healing so well she’s recommending I come in every 1 ½ to 2 weeks. There’s still pigmentation when I go in though. Obviously, the longer I wait between treatments, the worse I feel walking around with hair on my face. My question is, should I be seeing another electrologist (I did go for a bunch of consultations before settling on her)? Would a different machine or method make a difference (she does thermolysis)? And what are the odds that this is permanent? I’m doing all the aftercare recommended here (aloe, witch hazel, tea tree oil at night for three nights) and for the most part I don’t feel the hair sliding out at all when she treats it, which I know is the biggest thing. I’m just really scared that I’m damaging my skin.

Some advice would be truly and hugely appreciated.

Can you show us a picture of the area with the hyperpigmentation?

Unfortunately not - both cameras in my house are busted. I guess it’s hard to comment without a picture. Should I see a dermatologist about this?
